The food is really amazing. We order Pollo tacos and chicken enchiladas de mole pablano. We love the taste and will be back with friends. The host was also very caring.

My Valentine's Day dinner at Velero's in Valparaiso was a disappointing experience. This was my second visit to the restaurant, though the first was at their previous location. While this current location on Indiana Ave is larger, the parking situation is still less than ideal. Street parking is available, which is a plus. We were seated immediately, but it took a good ten minutes for our server to even take our drink order. After that, another ten minutes passed before he returned to take our food order.

Around that time, a musician began playing, and it was incredibly loud. It made conversation at our table nearly impossible. The noise level was simply overwhelming. When the food finally arrived, everyone at the table agreed that it was dry and overcooked. Nothing stood out in a positive way. I had ordered the Steak Enchiladas with red sauce, based on the server's recommendation. The steak was tough and overcooked, and instead of the red sauce I expected, the enchiladas were covered in a white sauce. It wasn't awful, but it wasn't what I ordered, and the overcooked steak ruined the dish.

The only bright spot was the Mexican rice, which was surprisingly flavorful. However, this one positive aspect wasn't enough to salvage the overall experience.

Overall, the experience was far from enjoyable. I can understand the appeal of live music, especially in the summer when they have outdoor seating, but inside, it's just too loud for a pleasant dinner. I won't be returning.

My husband and I went there for our date night. We were immediately seated upon entering. Our server, Olivia, took good care of us. She answered all my inquiries about menu items. I ordered seafood quesadillas for my appetizer. I was stuffed with delicious shrimp and lobster. It was served on bed of black beans. For our main course, I ordered the salmon, and my husband had the barbacoa tacos. I also ordered a cup of Mexican corn. The portion size was sharable. I'm definitely order the Barbacoa tacos next time. I look forward to dining on their rooftop or terrace this Spring and Summer.

Parking: Free parking. Small lot and street parking. Walking distance to downtown. It sits a block over from Lincolnway.

Really like their new location downtown, had the skirt steak tacos my wife had the coconut shrimp. Both excellent! Great place to sit at the bar or hightop too. Was impressed with their selection of seafood on menu and just overall quality of food. Worth a try I think anyone would like it

This place charges an extra fee per item and do not honor their advertised prices. They automatically charge gratuity and my drinks were half full for $13 my martini should have been filled up!
I found 2 items on my receipt that we didn't have & we were over charged for cheese dip which clearly says WITH chips but we were charged for the cheese dip AND "extra" chips which should have been included with the cheese dip as printed on their menu!
Bottom line....service & drinks were NOT good...fajitas were good.
I feel the server knew he was getting a automatic tip so didn't care if he gave good service or not. I don't mind tipping at all but if we ask for something I don't expect attitude. It's a shame we are charged excessive fees especially when your not made aware of the fees being charged BEFORE we order!
Will NOT be back

We stopped in for dinner. A nice casual sit down dinner. Parking was full in the front and along the street. So we ended up parking around back along the train tracks. There is access from the lower level. They were great at taking care of us. Helpful server and the food came quick. Food was delicious as well. I had the vegetarian tacos and the added some of the black beans to it.

Really fresh and delicious! The guac was amazing and I loved the margarita flight option. The mango with tajin rim was the best one! We will be back for sure!

We were visiting the art gallery nextdoor and decided to have dinner. Everything was wonderful. We started with some very tasty ceviche and drinks followed by tacos. Our server was friendly and prompt, and food excellent.
