This place really let me down! I heard it was really good from a city council member in Portland. So me and my family went with high hopes. Started with the alligator bites. Over 10$ and only got like 4 pieces of rubbery gunk. My main meal was the chicken sandwich and fries. The fries were really good. The sandwich on the other hand was not. The sandwich was bland and not seasoned. The voodoo sauce didn't even help it. The atmosphere was that of a library. So quite and if you had a conversation everyone heard it. Servers were nice. Overall not a good experience. I don't see my self here in the future. Hope you have a better experience!
We love T'ophers Place! Thank you for being in Portland! Great seafood and creole menu. They also offer steaks and burgers. Make sure to check them out if you haven't already.
If you are ever near Portland Indiana (maybe on your way to Cincinnati) you need to make a detour to eat at T'opher's Place at the Portland Golf Course. The service was good. The place is attractive. Best of all the food was interesting an incredible! You can get cooked alligator if you are feeling adventurous (we did not try it). I got the chicken enchiladas with Chipotle sour cream sauce and a side of jambalaya. It was was fabulous flavor combination that was different and so good. My husband got the shrimp po' boy with their signature sauce on a really good bread. This is a real must try place.
If you told me I would have the best shrimp and grits I've ever had in the middle of Indiana furniture country, I would of called you crazy. I'm from South Carolina and have had shrimp and grits many times throughout my life and Topher's was by far the best I've ever had. The cream sauce, coupled with the blackened shrimp. I literally stopped mid meal to write this review. It's amazing.
Quite tasty! If you want Cajun food, this is your place! Definitely save room for dessert!! Looking forward to another visit very soon.
Service excellent. Food even better. We will hitting this place often now that we have found it.
The side salad was very nice. The cheeseburger was flavorful. The breaded tenderloin was good. It was a generous portion. However we tried to order a steak at 4:45 on a Friday afternoon and were told they didn't have any! Very disappointing for sure. We were the only ones in the place. We wanted to give T'ophers a try in hopes to have a nicer place to go out for dinner. It wasn't the atmosphere we expected, more ike a bar, but may be fine for other occasions. Is there a reason you have 2 different steaks on the menu but do not have any to serve?
Great food, great service. Place was a little dirty and saw a lot of dust, but of course it is partially a bar so you expect a little more dirt than at a normal restaurant. Delicious food though, would recommend. And the waiters were very kind despite the fact that i was, unfortunately, dining with some people who were kind of rude to them.
Voodoo sauce is great. Boudin and alligator bites are great.
Had the tenderloin and fries...very tasty! Nice thick (but fall apart tender!) tenderloin, very tasty marinade and thin breading gave it good flavor. Quick in and out for lunch; give it a try!

For lunch today, I rode 55 miles each way to try T'opher's Place. It's a Cajun and Creole restaurant in Portland, Indiana on a golf course South of town.Everything I had was fantastic. Boudin balls, fried green tomatoes, and a half and half shrimp / oyster Po boy.The Boudin balls we're a very interesting mix of pork, peppers, onions and rice deep fried into a little handheld treat. It comes with what they call comeback sauce, but if you can take the heat, their voodoo sauce is the way to go.The fried green tomatoes came out as a pretty good size portion. Thin breading, and also comes with the comeback sauce. On to this fantastic po-boy. I couldn't decide if I wanted to oysters or shrimp, and they made it easy by just putting a combination one on the menu. The breading was perfect, the pickles, tomato and lettuce were crispy and fresh,The Mayo and bread holding it all together was a nice frame for such a fine piece of art. There were two people in the kitchen. They were having so much fun making food and singing along to their music, that it really projected their happiness into the food. I wanted to just hang out with them for a while after my meal was done.I know it's a little drive out of Fort Wayne, but totally worth it.#onforkstoforks
So good. A must for anyone who loves good food.
Delicious food and the voodoo sauce was so good I bought a bottle to take home. I had the fried chicken and biscuits.
If you don't go, then it's your fault for missing some of the best food, not just around here but over many states. Great food and also owner and staff are great. Chris took time to tell me about his travels as a chef and how his menu came from his travels.Just go, that's what I did and I will be taking people back with me.
