Was in town to visit Eisenhower Presidential Library and Seelye Mansion and stopped by here for lunch. It’s a casual family-owned one room restaurant whose patrons seem to be mostly locals. This is always a good thing. They serve breakfast all day, numerous burgers, sandwiches, and various plates.
We ordered the reuben and BLT sandwiches and the catfish plate with mac n cheese. The veggie of the day was green beans.
Everything was good except for the mac n cheese, which didn’t taste very fresh — you can tell the pasta and cheese had become coagulated. It wasn’t creamy cheesy as good quality mac n cheese should be. Wasn’t even homemade.
And the green beans? Straight from the can! It was mushy and bland. Who wants to eat soggy green beans?! This was rather disappointing.
Service was straightforward. Free parking in their small lot but also ample street parking.

A local place worth stoppingat for a meal. The food and service were great. What struck us, as tourists, was how friendly EVERYONE was.

Nice small town cafe stop 1.5 miles off of I70. Good food, kind service and clean atmosphere. On my list of go to stops when passing through Abilene.
My first visit, and I brought a group of 12. Server, Amber, is great! She's competent, kind, patient, friendly. Big hearted. True gem of a human!

After visiting Ike's museum, we were hungry for lunch. This is really the only option we could find! We walked in, and found no tables. Sat at the counter. The owner (Onya?) waited on us and we liked her.Two grilled chicken sandwiches. One of us got pasta salad, the other a side salad, with two good sweet teas. ($35) Good lunch. Inside, there is no atmosphere, but it seems that everyone in Abilene has lunch here. I would come back!
Shout out to Kelly for service and chatting about local history and current events!! Great place to get breakfast.
