My wife and I drove from Topeka for Her Birthday Saturday evening to have Steak Dinner,It was Outstanding,The fried mushrooms were Amazing!!!!! Loved the Historic Atmosphere of the Building. Our waitress was Great ,we will be coming back. I am coming for the country fried steak dinner next .
just returned from a great weekend at the lake, visited the Hays House on Thursday evening. we've made this a part of most trips when in town, previous years have been hit or miss. Thursday evening was a big hit, best food we've enjoyed there in years! I wanted to love this place... There was nothing wrong with the food, it was average. Had the service been better perhaps the food would have been more palatable. We mostly felt unwelcome when we visited, like we were disturbing the staff from something, oddly, there were very few others as we were early for the dinner service, around 5:30 pm. At any rate, it is a cool place with a neat history and wanted an experience.
