When the server brought my sandwich, she dropped the top bread on the floor she offered to replace the bread they were out. She offered a diff kind for the top. I did not want 2 diff bread. She never offered to remake the sandwich with 2 of the same bread she also did not offer a refund . She picked the bread off the floor but left the lettuce all over the floor. Noticing the other tables and floor, there was food on all of them or under them. Not a very clean place. Wonder what the kitchen looks like. 2pm or so on Saturday 20th.

So this 5 start review comes with a big caveat: your sandwich is mostly meat. Now some people love this, I rather a more balanced distribution so it's like 1/4" meat, 2-3 slices cheese, 1/4" veggies and fixings. This sando is like 3/4" meat, literally one thin slice of cheese, little bit of veggies. Not my style, but undeniably well made. Staff was excellent, everyone seems happy to work there too.I think the menu is really silly. It sounds just be a build your own format but instead they list a crazy number of individual combinations followed by "if there is a combination not listed just ask." Same with the special of the day section, which says you can choose any day special... It's a combo menu, it's not a special of the day. That's just silly stuff though, kinda adds a small town charm I suppose.

It's a sad fact that this isn't a local small chain because this is perhaps that best deli sandwich that I have had in more than twenty years. It reminds me of this wonderful deli that was in downtown Kansas City, which close years ago. We ordered our sandwiches to go. My husband had some corned beef sandwich, and I had combined ham and pastrami with Swiss. They don't skimp on the meat. What I ordered was small! Still it was very hearty. If anyone is ever in Ft. Scott and you need to fill your belly, I would highly recommend.

Found a stewed roach in my soup and I’m already sick I’m so upset don’t eat
No happy with the new owner or his staff or family. The place should have closed with the old owners death. Will not eat here again and will tell peoole to not either after my past 3 times going here.

This is a weird little hole in the wall sandwich shop that you might consider visiting when you pass through town. The locals seem to like it. The prices were very reasonable and they had a huge menu of classic sandwiches. I wouldn't say they have anything 'artisan' but I would definitely come here instead of the Subway down the road.

Great Plains deli was the 9th wonder of the world. Had everyone from 3 states around talking about how amazing the portions were and how delicious the food was. The service was fantastic and delightful to deal with. The place felt like home every time you picked up an order. It has gone down hill since the golden age but still a reliable sandwich shop now.

These sandwiches are huge! Friendly staff, really good sandwiches, and almost endless sandwich options. I recommend getting the small size for 1 person, it was more than big enough. The medium was big enough for 2.
