If you're not eating here, you're missing out! I am new to sushi and have found this place to be the most delicious I've had! Their hibachi dinners are top notch too! I will be coming back way more often.

We ordered off the middle of the menu because the lunch specials (last page of the menu) were for Monday through Friday. The prices were fair. 11 to 14 dollars for what we ordered. Got the bill and was charged 10 dollars more for each order. It is not posted on the menu or the walls, nor were we informed that there was an extra fee on weekends for "habachi" menu items. Left no tip and we won't be back. The food was good though.

If you live in Hays, KS you should be going to Osaki! We stayed one night in Hays, KS on our way to the Denver area from St. Louis. At Osaki we ordered takeaway and brought it back to the hotel. My wife had tempura shrimp and vegetables. She loved it! Five large shrimp and vegetables, separated in their own containers. I had trio color sushi. The sushi portions were huge (see picture)! The fish was fresh and very tender. We spent around $70.We arrived at five in the evening to an empty parking lot but it soon started to fill up. Owner was friendly and they had a sushi chef cutting the fish.Highly recommend! Check it out!

I really wanted to give higher reviews as the staff were very friendly but as stated in other reviews the food was decent but the actual building needs to be updated and cleaned. Most of what we ate was pretty good and the service was very good.A good thorough cleaning, replace all the lights and lighting fixtures and repaint the entire interior and I think you'll see an increase in the stars and comments. ??

Fried rice was so so. Teriyaki chicken was not good. Filet mignon and scallop was delicious! Perfectly cooked. Charred veggies were great.

Lovely place for good food whilst driving I-70 from Denver going east. Was in the mood for veggies and lean proteins so hibachi works great. Staff were super pleasant and the food was really tasty!Poor A/C was doing its best, it was 104* outside when I dined here and was a bit warm, but not too bad.Would stop again should I find myself in the area!

Good sushi! I don’t know how it’s this good this far away from the shore. They’re hiring! So get a job here, kid. So the service is a little faster.

As new transplants to Hays, we want to try all of the flavors Hays has to offer and Osaki did not disappoint. The service was exceptional, the food was delicious, and the atmosphere warm and inviting. I highly recommend this restaurant. I know it will quickly become one of our favorites.

The quality of true ethic foods, and the quality of restaurants available in Hays never fails. Just fine you favorite, except Italian, and you'll be satisfied.

First things first. It's a hibachi type food eatery, but they don't cook the food in front of you, but the food is good and filling. The service was good, and they kept my glass full on refills most of the time.

Genuine Japanese food is served at the Osaki Japanese Restaurant. The building is decorated in the traditional Japanese red on the outside. It's not hard to miss.Inside are beautiful paper fans about 4 feet across, which were arranged in fashion on the walls. Asian ornaments adorned the restaurant. Behind the bar was a beautiful mural of a wave painted in Japanese formation. The menu offered many Japanese dishes. The food was very authentic and delicious. When in Hays, Kansas, or near by, stop at the Osaki Japanese Restaurant to taste real, authentic cuisine.Dietary restrictions: They accommodated my request for no soy.

They were a bit short staffed, but told us right off the bat (not sure why, but it was a beautiful evening), and the staff busted their behinds to make it a great experience for everyone there. Kudos to them!! I'm sure some people weren't happy, but you can't please everyone all the time, and I didn't personally notice anyone visibly upset. I've eaten there before, and it's always been very, very tasty. My list of items is not complete because of a couple of things not available on the food list below.Wheelchair accessibility: While not a curb knockout like many places, toward the west end of their parking lot (north side of building) the concrete levels out to be fine for access. Depending on the wheeled apparatus, it isn't too bad at the door. A regular wheelchair shouldn't have an issue, but smaller wheels might. I'm going off a dear friend's situation.

This gets 2 stars only because the server was amazing and friendly. We ordered the shrimp and veggie tempura with udon noodles and miso soup, and the chicken noodle soup. The udon noodles tasted like if you were to lick a heavily used barbeque grill that has never been cleaned. The soup wasn't hot, and had a strange, yet bland flavor. We only had one sip each. The only thing that tasted okay was the shrimp tempura and the naruto rolls . I don't know if this is typical for japanese restaurants, but the veggies with the shrimp (onion, broccoli, and sweet potatoes) were battered and deep fried, which was weird. The chicken noodle soup did not have a good flavor either. We only had a few bites of each item, and it was $58 between the 2 of us.
