OK, here's the facts. You must stop here if you are near Hays Kansas! We had hamburgers, malts, and a salt-free patty for our puppy. This is not our first time here, and won't be the last. If you are on I-70, call ahead about 15 minutes and make the drive down South on the main drag. Get away from the interstate and have "real food" cooked to perfection. I have enjoyed eating at Vernie's since I was a kid. That's about 20 years of enjoying their food. The burgers are always hot and delicious. The shakes are amazing. The people that work there are friendly. Lately, they've had some odd hours. This is because of being short staffed. They're actively hiring but help has not been found. My first time there I went with a bacon cheeseburger and a milkshake. Both were fabulous!! Best burger I’ve had in awhile and the bun was even toasted. I highly recommend both menu items and the young lady who waited on me was very kind and helpful! They also offer a drive-thru around the back. Vernie’s beats any fast food chain around and offers MUCH better quality!
