Ordered Hamburger and fries. The hamburger was a hockey puck with no onions no lettuce no tomatoes and no condiments. Ordered a strawberry salad with grilled chicken. The chicken was just a big piece of fat cut into small bites. Ordered biscuits and gravy and the biscuits were burned. The others who ordered food said it was just mediocre. It took 45 minutes to get food delivered and there were only a few tables occupied. Charging extra for mediocre and cold food is ridiculous. Will think twice to eat there again.

Never again. I love the food and atmosphere. But to be charged full price for food I had to wait over 30 minutes just for it to be cooked, and not even told until I had been sitting there for 25 minutes that the incoming shift was late. But to sit and watch the current shift, that could have been making my food while they waited on the next shift, all talk and gossip with each other and other customers, I am enraged. I left fighting back tears because I just ordered a cheeseburger, something that I know takes FIVE MINUTES TO MAKE.

Given a table, but then was told that the waitress wasn't there yet and he wasn't going to take our order or anything more. We sat there and then finally received menus. Our waitress did finally I guess arrive on the job and took our drink order and lunch order. Strange thing though she didn't ask what type of toast I wanted with my breakfast order or how I wanted my eggs and had to ask for refills. Let's not even get started on the ladies bathroom. It should of been a big hint when we were the second car in the parking lot. Keep on driving and don't stop there. The food was awful and prices were high. I don't mind paying for good food and wonderful help and clean facilities. They failed in all area. This is the Independence, Kansas EggBerts on West Main.

Nice diner atmosphere. Food quality is adequate. Some items on the menu are presented with photos, some are just a description - which brought me to order an item by mistake. The sweetened ice tea was quite strange tasting... Will avoid if I happen to return here.
I have eaten here at least three times, and each time the food was fantastic. Good service, small town atmosphere and slower rhythm, plenty of local customers. One small opportunity for improvement would be the way the surfaces are cleaned. Each time I've eaten here I smell that dirty dish rag smell, so maybe if the rags get sanitized or switched out just a little more often, that would take care of it. Love the apple butter option for biscuits and rolls.

I routinely go for breakfast on weekends. Or used to. Went in early on a Sunday. Got seated. 15 minutes later, no menu, no coffee, no service. They were not busy. Apparently they have too much to talk about with each other to deal with customers. There are other choices, and I'll be making them in the future.
