Been there a couple of times since we’re spending more time in KC. The food has been very good and so has been the service. Will continue to eat there whenever in town. ??✊???

I went there to get the fried plantains specifically, also looking for conch fritters or bacalaitos (anyone--please tell me if you know anywhere in the KC metro area that ever has these!). She was out of the plantains and doesn't offer the other two items. I ordered the appetizer plate and everything was fried really hard and was just OK.When she told me to check back at a later date to see if she got some more plantains, which have been difficult for many people to get lately, I called her 2 or 3 three times and she never would answer my calls or texts. Oh well, she was very nice and accommodating in person that day. The place was very busy and everything looked and smelled wonderful.

Today I ordered carne frita con cebolla arroz habichuelas y ensalada de coditos. This order was filled in the back with the exception of the beans which the clerk took from the front area. I was surprised to see the cold ensalada mixed with the hot rice and carne. The white rice portion was minuscule which should never happened. By the time I got home the grease from the carne and the melted mayonnaise from the salad spread all over the little bit of white rice and I had to come home to throw away the codito salad the rice and make new rice. What a disappointment. In the future I hope that the cold items are not put in the same container with the hot items. The rice portion that the ladies serve is substantial so please don’t let the staff in the back skimm you from a good portion of rice. The beef should be placed in a piece of aluminum foil so all the grease is not spread over the rest of the food. My heart breaks because the food is delicious, authentic, the staff in the front is awesome. Just order from the buffet items and in that way you will get the right amount of food packed properly. This is a great hidden gem. I just had bad luck with the staff in the back.

2nd time here and I had the fried pork Mofongo, and it was soooo delicious and the meat was cooked to perfection. The ends were crispy and inside super tender. Don't forget to ask for mayo ketchup! ? their desserts are delicious too! Highly recommend their vanilla or queso flan! The ladies here are so sweet and helpful and they'll answer any questions you have regarding the menu! They have the open food with a variety or you can order off the menu

The food was delicious and the service was amazing. I had a pork plato and a cortadito. The coffee was an excellent way to finish off an amazing lunch. Will be back soon!

Wow! How delicious! Reminded me of my trips to the Dominican Republic. She helped us find delicious vegan things to eat. Super kind.

Definitely a small piece of island in the middle of nowhere!I came to Kearney,MO for a few weeks and I have visited this restaurant twice despite the drive. There food is like eating at home.. always on point and I respect their price, in fact they should charge more ...I can tell it's a small family owned business so please be respectful and tip them well !

I've been here plenty of times before and always got the garlic salsa pollo but for some reason this is how it looked yesterday. I'm not sure if there's a new chef, but something like this shouldn't have even left the kitchen and for $17 at that. The plantains were burnt and the yuca overcooked or been out all day I couldn't tell all I know is I couldn't chew it, and I wasn't about to lose a tooth over it. Added a star for customer service but if this is the standard going forward I won't return.
