“This was an important dinner, my son who is 26, had surgery(had his tonsils removed) a couple days ago, and The recovery is described as one of the worst, and it feels like shards of glass in your throat.he has to eat soft food and he had Choices all over the Kansas City metro area. He chose Joe’s, Joe’s mac & cheese to be exact! We live on the Missouri side (Gladstone). So I decided to stop by this evening, and not only get a quart of mac & cheese for him, I grabbed dinner for myself (z-man w/ fries, ribs w/ red beans and rice, Mac and cheese) which I was reluctant to do, due to me having to drive 35 minutes home and I was worried that it was going to be Soggy and cold, Well, much to my surprise, the food was packed perfectly, my food was still hot, and my fries were still crispy! Thank you Joe’s in Leawood you did amazing! I will probably be back in the next couple of days to purchase more Joes mac & cheese! BTW this son of mine recommends Joes to everyone!! First, the entire meal was late, they had to substitute knots for garlic bread, waited forever and the calzone had literally one piece of meat about 1"x1.5" and what looked like a mozzarella stick for cheese. The meal was gross, late, over cooked and not what we ordered or paid for. So disappointed. Since it is a long drive we regularly make I doubt we will be returning. $34 meal wasted.”

For some this is like a second home. The owners and bartenders definitely care about their customers. Great place to check out if you have never been.”

The food is always hot, fresh made, and on the very few times they've gotten the order wrong, they've made it right immediately and typically throw in something to make up for the mistake. We've since moved out of the neighborhood but we still order as often as we used to and drive out of our way to get food from here.”

To top it off, the margaritas actually taste like tequila and fresh lime, not that sugary bottled mix. They’re strong, simple, and hit the spot perfectly.”

I ordered the Egg drop soup which was served ahead of our entrees. This appreciated so that I wasn't rushed to eat it before my food arrived. It was good but I do think they could have added more of the actual egg in it.
My side and entree choice was the lo main and changs spicy chicken which is their version if sweet generals chicken. I enjoyed that it had a mild kick to it but I was still able to taste the chicken which thankfully wasn't over breaded.
I would give it a 5 out of 5 if the egg drop soup had more egg in it. The picture of the soup gives it more credit than what was in an actually great amount of soup. Seeing portions were definitely larger than I expected. Definitely would recommend.”

All I can say is WOWZA, im kicking myself for never going there now(which of course will be made up for). Come as you are. It's a nice little establishment with inside and outside seating. The staff is friendly, the service is soooo fast and the chicken is absolutely phenomenal. Half or whole chicken comes with rice and beans and soda or drink, even coke in a glass bottle(those of us who know). The skin is amazing too, the colonel has NOTHING on El Pollo Rey. Half a chicken or whole chicken, the price is the same (2 halves is same price as a whole) and when you're done there's even a place to put your glass bottle or can for recycling purposes. If youve never been then GO.....NOW. Your only regret will be you didnt go sooner.”

He took our drink order and the exceptional service just kept getting better. Drinks and chips were always full. My husband ordered the burrito and taco special and I had the Quesaburrias. Oh my word were they good! I typically order the quesaburrias if they are offered at other restaurants and these were by far the best I've had. The consomme' was exceptionally seasoned which of course made the beef very tasty. My husband was pleased with his meal as well.
