“This place is one of the few bars I've been to that feels genuinely relaxing. The atmosphere is incredible with vintage decor, there's often live music from touring and local musicians, and ample space to sit and talk. The staff is fast, friendly, and kind. It's a must visit in KC. Can't say enough great things about this please, the list is endless.“

“This place had great staff, service, food and fresh tasting margaritas and salsa. The tamales are the highlight—the masa is light and fluffy, not heavy or dry like most places, and they’re stuffed with meat that actually has flavor. The salsas are the real kicker; mild was great and the hot has a kick but so fresh you’ll keep dipping even when your mouth is watering. To top it off, the margaritas actually taste like tequila and fresh lime, not that sugary bottled mix. They’re strong, simple, and hit the spot perfectly.“

“This is the coolest place in Kansas City! I was blown away by this gem. It is by far the coziest warehouse space I have ever been in. There are several conversation areas set up and so much soft seating to choose from. There is a small but excellent board game collection which was a great surprise. The book selection is so well curated! I had a delightful time hanging here for a drink and a browse. I will absolutely be back next time I come thru town. I loved this place so much!!!“

“Was really good! Some of the best cocktails I've ever had. Came in during Sunday happy hour after 4 and was told all cocktails are $2 off, however got charged full price for one of hours. Bartender was too busy to ask about it after we got the itemized receipt. Overall, delicious. Just wish we would have gotten the full special.“

“This lounge is moody and eclectic. The vibes are always present every time I step in. The staff in its absolute entirety is TOPNOTCH. You can see the amount of detail that went into the entire process from the staff, the interior, the drink menu, the music. Everything in this bar feels as though it was handpicked. The long ways cocktail is hands down the BEST drink I’ve ever had when I want something that packs a punch but is absolutely delicious from beginning to end.“

“This is a must stop gem for a date night or just to kick back and have fun. He blends upbeat fun times with music that hits your soul. He also teaches you about the history of jazz in kansas city and really about how each song came to be. This was a genuinely a fun time that I wish would have lasted longer. “They had a nice variety of beers from different breweries. The service was good and the food was good. We spent a little over $50 on food and beer for 2 people, they’d not bad at all. There was no parking available in their side and back parking lot. We ended up parking on the street. However they do validate your parking spot if you find a spot to park in their parking lot. They have a ramp which is handicap accessible.“

“It appears to be a speakeasy but it’s actually pretty loud in there. Signs nearby indicated pay for parking but we parked and eventually dined at Anthony’s next door. Drinks are great. We didn’t explore any food options. Waitress was wonderful!“

“Everything we got was amazing! The meatballs were a dense but decedent with the sauce. The vodka pasta was good, but the chicken parm sandwich blew it out of the water!
Love the atmosphere as well as the weird swan sink faucet and will be back for the happy hour. Services was a tad bit slow, but not slow enough to knock it down a star. Everyone working was very nice and our server was awesome!“

“I’m in town on a long business trip. I was looking for a bar just like this one : not a generic chain bar, small, mainly locals, pool table….this bar is awesome. Within an hour I was chatting to the very friendly local patrons and playing pool. The lady working the bar was so nice and welcoming. I’ll be back for sure before I head out of Kansas. Oh, the beers on tap are freakin’ HUGE! I didn’t eat anything, so not sure about the food menu here.“

“I like Grinders but the description of the “preferred viewing upgrade” was completely misleading! It was crazy hot so we got it strictly for the A/C Not anywhere near the stage and could barely hear the music when we went to get a beverage at the coffee shop (which is the a/c “lounge “) And the view was of the side of the stage and could barely see any of the performers. I will never pay for that upgrade ever again. Someone definitely needs to update the info on their ticket and venue site.“

“Food is really good, I've ordered many times from them but my last order included an $8.25 fee for carry out supplies. They charge a percent of the entire bill. No where in the check out process do they tell you this. This seems excessive for 6 utensil packs and 5 takeout containers. Many other BBQ places with similar price points do not charge this fee. If you are going to charge extra fees be up front about it.“

“First time here and definitely worth the quick streetcar from crossroads. An amazing espresso martini. Wife had “plot device” and said it was delicious. Vibes are great weather your starting or ending an evening. Small, intimate, good specialty menu. Will say, the part of town is still being redone so give them a little grace on location.“

“Five stars because I love this bar and it’s my go-to dive bar. I will say this though because I’d never want to ruin a star rating but I feel strongly about saying that the bartender working on Memorial Day evening around 8:45 reflects the opposite of what hospitality should be. I asked for a Negroni (a three ingredient, equal part drink) and the bartender laughed and said you aren’t a cocktail bar. Of course and that’s why I love Chez, but I thought I’d ask. The bartender didn’t even look up at me, zero eye contact for me and the other two members of my party. It would’ve been so simple to kindly suggest another option or at least smile, but it felt so extremely unapproachable and unkind. I’m very familiar with the bar scene in Kansas City and frequent chez Charlie, but was disappointed in the complete lack of warmth or friendliness. Genuinely impacted my night in a negative way and that just stinks! Let’s just be nice to one another.“
