Everything was excellent and the service was on point!
We accidentally stumbled across the Black Garlic while looking for someplace to eat near the Uptown Theater. What a WONDERFUL discovery we made. Starting with the atmosphere, which had such a cool, sleek vibe. We had the pleasure of having Monica and Terry serve our table. They gave wonderful drink recommendations, and the drinks were outstanding and beautiful. The food… I had the Crab Cakes which were some of the best I have had. My husband enjoyed a dish called Giya...read full review
Wow! This is our new favorite in KC! The food was so amazing and so FULL of flavor unlike so many other places in KC. We have been traveling to the Caribbean for 22 years and know Caribbean food and this is some of the best we have ever had. KayKay (sp) was our server and was so sweet and attentive. We will be back! Can't believe there is not a line out the door for this place. Rum drinks are outstanding! We had a pain killer and a hibiscus Mojito. For dinner we had the Ox...read full review

Black Garlic Restaurant & Rum Bar offers a wonderful time with delicious food and drinks. The atmosphere features subtle and elegant mood lighting, with live music adding to the experience, though certain sections can be loud. The menu includes authentic dishes like Oxtails, Lamb tips, crab cakes, lamb/beef tibs, shrimp tibs, jerk bao buns, shrimp and grits, and pasta. The oxtails are big and meaty, and the lamb tips come with Injera, a fermented bread that is an acquired taste. The spices and seasonings hit you delightfully upon entering. Service is exceptional, with professionalism, delightful conversation, and attentiveness. Server Terri is amazing and helpful, with a lovely personality that keeps the table smiling. The restaurant accommodates large groups of 9+. Prices are good, though parking is a con. Wednesdays are bingo night, and the location is a great pre-concert stop for shows at The Uptown. Highly recommended.
