“Walking into what looks from the outside to be a tiny, intimate place, the expectation was high. Dark interior is elegant and the drink and food menu seemed quite good. That is until the food arrived. While salad was very good with fresh ingredients, everything else, from spaghetti with meatballs, deviled eggs, to calamari, they were with overcooked, lacked flavor, or simply wrong. Pasta should be more al dente while meatballs should be, well, meatballs instead of weirdly shaped salty ground beef. Deviled eggs shouldn’t taste chalky (that said, it was better as a cold leftover). And calamari would’ve been a better dish as grilled, not deep fried fast food. Given its excellent service and classy ambiance, let’s hope they figure out how to enhance their food situation.”

“Went to Barbacoa, 5500 Troost, for brunch Sunday morning, what a delightful experience. I ordered Monie’s plate. It was mouthwatering. The serving was so generous, that I took half of it home. The corn tortillas were soft and warm enough to make a taco, the beans were flavorful and not spicy, the carnitas were fall apart tender and very tasty, perfectly fried potatoes, and fluffy scrambled eggs. The salsa was very tasty and not overly spicy. The coffee was even tasty (Costco Kirkland medium roast). Unlike some breakfast restaurants, the background music was so low and mellow (helps with digestion), I could hear my friends talk. We have to go back during the week for dinner. UPDATE - I forgot one very important thing, the service was excellent. Our group was one of two in the restaurant, but shortly afterwards other start to arrive. There was only one friendly waitress, who, despite the growing crowd, was able to get back to us about more coffee and to check on us”

“This was a great choose for a small relaxed family dinner. 4 stars for food, only because some meal portions were smaller than desired for the price however hats off to the cook the evening of 07/11/26; the flavor and presentation was perfect. 3 stars for service just because our hostess could have been more welcoming; personable and informative about the menu offerings etc, maybe she's just not the talking type who knows but everything else about the visit here was much enjoyed.”

“Had a great time at Guy Fieri’s Dive & Taco Joint while enjoying the soccer atmosphere at Kansas City’s Power & Light District. We ordered the carne asada tacos and the carne asada fries, and both were delicious. The carne asada was flavorful, and the fries were loaded and perfect for sharing.

The service was friendly and the atmosphere was lively with lots of fans around. Great food, great energy, and a fun place to hang out while watching soccer. We would definitely come back next time we’re in Kansas City! ⚽🌮😊🔥”

My card was declined. Which puzzled me. I don't keep much money in my account, but there should have been much more than enough to cover $6 and change. (Figured out later that it was because they put a hold my last deposit - even though it was drawn on their bank - AND - there was a big funds freeze from a recent small gasoline purchase.) I was surprised and embarrassed and apologized. I was about to pull away when the young man looked at me and said: "Don't sweat it. I got you." Pulled out his wallet and swiped his card for my meal. People are good. I'm going to do something to make that young man glad for his act of kindness soon if I can. If you happen upon him (his mask was a modified neck gator (had ear straps, but also covered the back of his neck) with a sort of blue tribal print on a black background and came to a point on his chest, somewhat like a bandanna would - tell him thanks for me.”

It hits the mark for that dreamy, darkish, amber glow ambience, especially in the later months. This past weekend we went to KC on a whim and knew they were booked and decided we would be fine with a seat at the bar. When we inquired about a table for 2, the hostess explained that they were booked and could sit at the bar. We were totally great with that! But the “head honcho” came out of nowhere and told us he actually had a table for 2. The cherry on top? “Jim and the team there care, a rare commodity in this day and age. A friend of mine accidentally left behind his son’s teddy bear, 6 waitresses and Jim studied the picture and took down our numbers. “Had a great time at Guy Fieri’s Dive & Taco Joint while enjoying the soccer atmosphere at Kansas City’s Power & Light District. We ordered the carne asada tacos and the carne asada fries, and both were delicious. The carne asada was flavorful, and the fries were loaded and perfect for sharing.

The service was friendly and the atmosphere was lively with lots of fans around. Great food, great energy, and a fun place to hang out while watching soccer. We would definitely come back next time we’re in Kansas City! ⚽🌮😊🔥”

“Tonight we came to Thai Orchid for my birthday and sat in Dylan’s section and he was outstanding! So friendly and attentive. He gave us just enough time without being pushy. Our food was wonderful and fresh. I cannot recommend this location enough. We ordered the soft spring rolls, steamed dumplings, shrimp yellow curry and the shrimp pad Thai. Delicious!”

“My family has had the pleasure of eating here twice. Our most recent visit was yesterday! The owner and staff make you feel right at home from the moment we walked in the door. My papdi chaat was perfection, mango lassi was refreshing, chicken shawarma wrap with fries & garlic sauce was delicious! My 13 yr. old son thoroughly enjoyed his butter chicken with naan! The breakfast/lunch menu was full of the no fuss kind of meals you could make at home, but she makes them much better. “We had such a great experience at the LS Pegah’s tonight. Our kids were tired from homecoming festivities and whiny, making them harder to maintain. Our waitress and the entire staff were nothing but amazing to us coming over talking to the kids and making sure we had everything we needed. There was a slight mishap with our one of our dishes and our server (Emma I think) felt so bad and went above and beyond to make it right. We will definitely be back- our food was amazing!!”

We also enjoyed engaging with Josh and admired his careful and skilled approach to ensuring that tables received the same beautiful plating and food. Allowing for Chef Peter to select our menu created a fun and delightful dining experience. This place is a 1/1 on the Kansas City food scene in our opinions, and we are already looking ahead to find a time to come back.”
