“At 2:40 the lady at the bar comes yelling it's 3 time to go I look at my phone and asked if we could finish this pool game she literally got in my face yelling bar time is different from your time. Within minutes I was being snatched up and thrown out the bar. “Went to Cheval on a Tuesday late afternoon. Beautiful place for a cocktail. Gorgeous gothic look with antique wooden bar and circular conversational tables. Many drink options to choose from. Not sure if they provide food. It was February so we were a bit cold in the corner near the windows. Bartender was okay. Made good drinks but not 100% menu knowledgeable or friendly. Needs to work on his presentation of the cocktail and not pull old wrinkled napkins out of his apron. We enjoyed experiencing something different in KC.“

“By far my favorite little lounge in KC. It’s just a short 5 minute walk from my apartment so the convenience is there. I love the retro aesthetic mixed with modern design, and when there’s a DJ it adds even more to the experience. My drinks are always great and the customer service is attentive and friendly. The little burger truck outside, Disco Burger, is sic a fun and amazing addition on those tipsy nights you’re craving a good burger. My friends and I LOVE Varisty Club, and our favorite bartender is Caleb. He’s always so nice and efficient with us. Such a vibe. I would give 10 stars if I could.“

“Staying at the Hilton Presidents Hotel in downtown Kansas City we stopped by the Drum Room located on property and accessed via hotel lobby or its side entrance. Good and atmosphere were so good we ate there 2 times. Started with Fried Goat Cheese and Beet Salad and finished with the KC Beach Burger with garlic fries and Meatball Farfalle pasta dish. All were amazing and didn’t venture far on our second visit and skipped the salad as the 3 items were way too much on the first evening. Second evening we shared a bottle of Sav Blanc from N.Z. Amazing.“

“Fun local dive bar. No food but they have a few snacks for purchase, sometimes coffee cake next to the free coffee station and a popcorn machine (not always in use). Couple dart boards in the back. a gold game and a gambling card game too on the bar. Covered deck in the back. Not a lot of options for beers, but good specials and fair prices in general. They make their own moonshine, and it is DELICIOUS. Apple Pie and Peach are king (to be fair I didn't try the other 2), peach tastes like fresh peach nectar. Highly recommend.“

“Backstage Bar was easily one of the best spots I’ve been to in a while. The vibe is laid-back but still lively, the drinks are excellent, and the whole place has that kind of atmosphere where you end up staying way longer than you planned.

A big shoutout to Tristan behind the bar. He was friendly, quick, and clearly knows what he’s doing. Even when it got busy, he kept the energy up and made sure everyone was taken care of. It’s rare to find a bartender who can make great drinks and make the experience feel personal, but Tristan nailed it.“

“Was walking around the Crossroads area and decided to give this place a try. Came in a little before 8:30 hoping to get a table since it was getting close to closing time. Host and waiter gladly took us to our table.

Tried the bratsalatte, and really enjoyed the flavors of the pumpkin vinaigrette, it wasn't too overpowering, a nice hint of sweetness brought the flavors altogether, was a big fan of the croutons, as they were house made but gave a nice crispy bread like texture.

I had the schnitzel and it was by far one of the best breaded pork cutlet I've ever had. Nice crisp on the outside and tender and juicy on the inside. When paired with the lingonberry sauce it definitely enhanced the experience with a subtle fruit sweetness, again not overpowering but enough to balance the cutlet. The sides served was a cucumber salad and Potato salad. Both were excellent in their own ways. At first I was a bit confused with how they were prepared. It seemed as if the cucumber salad should've been prepared the way the potato salad was prepared and vice versa. The cucumber salad had a creamy taste aligned with most potato salads and the potato salad had a pickled flavoring as you would find in a cucumber. But either way, paired with the pork schnitzel it was delightful.

Tried the wife's bone in schweinekotlett, pork cutlet with natural jus and even that dish was just as fantastic. Meat was tender, juicy and the jus from the pork really gave it a nice umami flavor. Parts of the meat were a bit fatty for my wife, but not a problem for me as it's one of my favorite parts of the pork. If you've ever had a good pork broth soup such as tonkotsu that is what the flavor reminded me of.

Service was top notch. Server was very accommodating, knowledgeable with the menu as well as recommending dishes. Although it was right around closing time, waiter offered us deserts and told us we were in no rush. We are in now way experts on Austrian cuisine, but know good food when we taste it. We felt very welcome and would gladly go back again!“
