Behold, they’re closed until the end of February. Was a very small faded cardboard sign on the door.
If they really cared about their customers, they’d have a big one that you could see from the street without having to park and walk um readable one .
And they would at least update their website.

Unfortunately to go orders , do not get top complementary mint tea, and honestly it was priced a little bit high. That said, the flavor was outstanding.

It hits the mark for that dreamy, darkish, amber glow ambience, especially in the later months. This past weekend we went to KC on a whim and knew they were booked and decided we would be fine with a seat at the bar. When we inquired about a table for 2, the hostess explained that they were booked and could sit at the bar. We were totally great with that! But the “head honcho” came out of nowhere and told us he actually had a table for 2. The cherry on top? There was no parking available in their side and back parking lot. We ended up parking on the street. However they do validate your parking spot if you find a spot to park in their parking lot. “I’ll be honest—I was a little nervous going into Akoya Omakase. I had never done any kind of Omakase experience before, and just looking at the menu was honestly a little intimidating. I wasn’t sure what to expect or if it would be something I would enjoy.

After experiencing it, I can confidently say: **if you like sushi, you will LOVE this place.**

But what really stood out to me was that this isn’t just a meal—it’s a dining experience. In my opinion, **Akoya Omakase is one of the best dining experiences in Kansas City**, especially if you do the **Chef’s Table**. Being able to watch everything come together and experience the food the way the chef intended made it something I won’t forget.

And if you go, **ask for Jay**. He was incredible. He made the entire experience feel comfortable and welcoming, especially for someone like me who had never done Omakase before. He explained things, answered questions, and made the experience feel approachable rather than intimidating.

“We did the 4:30 distillery tour and it was really fun! There is not much walking and an elevator available for those that need it. Our tour guide was very interesting and he did a great job of teaching us about Tom Pendergast and also about the liquors that they distill. You can start with a drink in their bar and carry it with you throughout the tour if you like!“

“My husband and I had the best experience at this restaurant. The food was good as always. During our meal my husband had to use the rest room. He has some dementia and can’t walk very well. “Los Alamos Cocina is easily the best authentic Mexican food in KC. The menudo and pozole is best ive ever had and the chili rolo and verde are both outstanding, tastes exactly like homemade because they are. Wonderful family owned stop in a historic area of KC. oh and dont forget to treat yourself to the best chillaquiles and eggs you'll ever have. Delicious! The catering we got for our New Years feast was a huge hit as well: tamales, pork verde and menudo. EXCELLENTE!“
