“Excellent tacos“

“Went to Barbacoa, 5500 Troost, for brunch Sunday morning, what a delightful experience. I ordered Monie’s plate. It was mouthwatering. The serving was so generous, that I took half of it home. The corn tortillas were soft and warm enough to make a taco, the beans were flavorful and not spicy, the carnitas were fall apart tender and very tasty, perfectly fried potatoes, and fluffy scrambled eggs. The salsa was very tasty and not overly spicy. The coffee was even tasty (Costco Kirkland medium roast). Unlike some breakfast restaurants, the background music was so low and mellow (helps with digestion), I could hear my friends talk. We have to go back during the week for dinner. UPDATE - I forgot one very important thing, the service was excellent. Our group was one of two in the restaurant, but shortly afterwards other start to arrive. There was only one friendly waitress, who, despite the growing crowd, was able to get back to us about more coffee and to check on us“

The menudo and pozole is best ive ever had and the chili rolo and verde are both outstanding, tastes exactly like homemade because they are. Wonderful family owned stop in a historic area of KC. oh and dont forget to treat yourself to the best chillaquiles and eggs you'll ever have. Delicious! The catering we got for our New Years feast was a huge hit as well: tamales, pork verde and menudo. EXCELLENTE!“

“🚨GUACAMOLE CHANGE! We’ve been coming to Ponaks for 30 years. The guacamole has aways been one of our favorites. Today we ordered it and immediately noticed something was different. We asked the server and he confirmed that they have changed their recipe, and it’s for the worst. They’ve added “filler” by putting pico and other ingredients into it. It’s not even close to what it was. I hope they don’t start changing their food and Margaritas!!! There is a reason people keep coming back year after year! Please dont mess with perfection Ponaks!“

“I have eaten at Manny's several times in the past but I reckon I only tried tacos. While meeting up for a mutual friend bday dinner I decided to try something different. I ordered the fried burrito w carnitas and it was DELICIOUS!!!! the rice was really good too . I also tried a frozen melon margarita and it was ok, not much alcohol in it. Overall it was a yummy drink and dinner. I will be going back for more. also our waitress was amazing I really liked her I apologize I can't remember her name but definitely one of the best. parking was easy.“

“Tatema is a little hole in the wall restaurant, but let me tell you, their food is incredible! I am generally a person who doesn't like mexican food (at least the american version of it), however when I got tacos here for the first time, they were truly life changing. “Been to Jalapenos for dinner several times as I live in the area. It's definitely got a family vibe. The food is good but not excellent. It's also expensive for what it is. However, sit down restaurants are just expensive everywhere nowadays. The chips and salsa are a highlight for the kids. And I attest that the beef quesadillas are great and can be a dinner portion on their own. The service was generally good. They can get busy but our drinks are rarely empty and the chips and salsa just keep coming. So I would recommend for a family friendly, low key dinner spot.“
