“Excellent tacos“

“Went to Barbacoa, 5500 Troost, for brunch Sunday morning, what a delightful experience. I ordered Monie’s plate. It was mouthwatering. The serving was so generous, that I took half of it home. The corn tortillas were soft and warm enough to make a taco, the beans were flavorful and not spicy, the carnitas were fall apart tender and very tasty, perfectly fried potatoes, and fluffy scrambled eggs. The salsa was very tasty and not overly spicy. The coffee was even tasty (Costco Kirkland medium roast). Unlike some breakfast restaurants, the background music was so low and mellow (helps with digestion), I could hear my friends talk. We have to go back during the week for dinner. UPDATE - I forgot one very important thing, the service was excellent. Our group was one of two in the restaurant, but shortly afterwards other start to arrive. There was only one friendly waitress, who, despite the growing crowd, was able to get back to us about more coffee and to check on us“

The menudo and pozole is best ive ever had and the chili rolo and verde are both outstanding, tastes exactly like homemade because they are. Wonderful family owned stop in a historic area of KC. oh and dont forget to treat yourself to the best chillaquiles and eggs you'll ever have. Delicious! The catering we got for our New Years feast was a huge hit as well: tamales, pork verde and menudo. EXCELLENTE!“

“🚨GUACAMOLE CHANGE! We’ve been coming to Ponaks for 30 years. The guacamole has aways been one of our favorites. Today we ordered it and immediately noticed something was different. We asked the server and he confirmed that they have changed their recipe, and it’s for the worst. They’ve added “filler” by putting pico and other ingredients into it. It’s not even close to what it was. I hope they don’t start changing their food and Margaritas!!! There is a reason people keep coming back year after year! Please dont mess with perfection Ponaks!“

“I want to El Maguey with my family for dinner, and overall we had a pleasant evening. The atmosphere is really great, It’s a modern yet traditional style. We got two taco kids meals and they were definitely over priced for what they were. The restaurant was really clean and we had great service. This restaurant is slightly pricey, but other than that I have no complaints.I think it’s worth checking out!“

“Barrio happy hour is hard to beat! We loved that it goes until 6:00 so we had time to make it for a post-work margarita. “Really fun atmosphere, great service and great food. The Al Pastor tacos were my favorite blending unique flavors of sweet fruits with small pieces spicy jalapeno peppers. A real treat for the taste buds. We went on a Tuesday night which was Taco Tuesday. They had $3 tacos (you can pick from four options) and discounts in drinks. I tried the Al Pastor, Cheeseburger Taco, Buffalo Cauliflower, and Chicken Tinga. All four were very good.“

I am generally a person who doesn't like mexican food (at least the american version of it), however when I got tacos here for the first time, they were truly life changing. “I went to Manny's with my daughter and my sister for a late dinner. The food was excellent, but the staff was even better. The waitress had such a good vibe and she was super cool. Her helper brought spicy salsa without even being asked for it and refilled it before we even had a chance to ask. They even put leftover chips in a zip lock bag and made sure to put extra air in it so the chips wouldn't be smashed in transport. The asada tacos were excellent and they even have chiles reados, which was also excellent. I was just so impressed with the level of service and it really set the tone for the whole experience. We walked right in, entered our order on a kiosk, sat down at a little table while we waited, and the food was brought out quickly. I got 2 birria tacos, my husband got the quesadilla. Both were excellent - I loved the pickled onions on the side since I love them and my husband does not. The consomme had a little bit of heat but not enough that I could taste it when coupled with my tacos. Wonderful flavor. The young man in the kitchen stepped out to ask us how we liked everything. “I have been a few times in the past few months. The hosts and hostesses are consistently warm and accommodating. Our servers have been hit or miss. Either exceptional or average. (I would not let this deter you). The fajitas (steak) are amazing; easily two portions. The food is worth the price. The margaritas are always consistent. Definitely make a reservation.“
