“We were staying overnight at The Fairfield Inn, and The Summit Grill was recommended to us for a dinner location. We were pleasantly surprised at the deliciously amazing food, quick service, and also our attentive waiter, Travis. I highly recommend the Traditional Pot Roast, and my husband recommends the Chicken-Fried Chicken. If we are in Gladstone again, we will defintely return.“

“This place is one of the few bars I've been to that feels genuinely relaxing. The atmosphere is incredible with vintage decor, there's often live music from touring and local musicians, and ample space to sit and talk. The staff is fast, friendly, and kind. “We did the 4:30 distillery tour and it was really fun! There is not much walking and an elevator available for those that need it. Our tour guide was very interesting and he did a great job of teaching us about Tom Pendergast and also about the liquors that they distill. “By far my favorite little lounge in KC. It’s just a short 5 minute walk from my apartment so the convenience is there. I love the retro aesthetic mixed with modern design, and when there’s a DJ it adds even more to the experience. My drinks are always great and the customer service is attentive and friendly. The little burger truck outside, Disco Burger, is sic a fun and amazing addition on those tipsy nights you’re craving a good burger. My friends and I LOVE Varisty Club, and our favorite bartender is Caleb. He’s always so nice and efficient with us. Such a vibe. I would give 10 stars if I could.“

“It had been a while since we ventured into downtown KCMO, and we genuinely enjoyed the atmosphere. Overall, the food was good, though not quite at the level we expected for the price. One clear takeaway: avoid the fried items. We wish we had read the negative reviews beforehand, because the wings were unfortunately the worst we’ve ever had overly oily and lacking flavor. As a big wings fan, the execution was especially frustrating: the batter wasn’t right, the texture was greasy, and the seasoning simply missed the mark. The shrimp toasts were also disappointing—very soggy bread to the point that I felt it wasn't cooked in the middle.

That said, the “Japanese‑style” dishes featuring raw fish were much better. The sushi taco was a standout, and my friends really enjoyed the bone marrow beef tartare. For the main course, the scallop pasta had great potential, but the salt was heavy—particularly on the scallops and toward the bottom of the bowl, even after mixing.

On a positive note, the drinks, desserts and service were excellent, easily deserving five stars.“

“Staying at the Hilton Presidents Hotel in downtown Kansas City we stopped by the Drum Room located on property and accessed via hotel lobby or its side entrance. Good and atmosphere were so good we ate there 2 times. Started with Fried Goat Cheese and Beet Salad and finished with the KC Beach Burger with garlic fries and Meatball Farfalle pasta dish. All were amazing and didn’t venture far on our second visit and skipped the salad as the 3 items were way too much on the first evening. Second evening we shared a bottle of Sav Blanc from N.Z. “I've been to Big John's a few times, and have always been treated well, with very reasonably priced drinks. The reason for the review though was because of my most recent experience. My family and I got caught in the storm that everyone did during Santacaligon days. The bartender that evening told me to bring my family inside to be safe. She was worried about our kids. Not only did she give us a safe place to hang out, she also offered my kids some soda's and lots of kindness. She could tell they were worried. I left to go help people with their booths, but my wife, kids and friends stayed until it was safe to leave. They felt welcomed, treated very well. “This place is the jewel of the neighborhood and of KCNE. Here, not only good things happen, but they are possible because of the owner’s mission of creating a place for making dreamers’ dream a reality. From providing a space for yoga, meditation, selling crafts, singing, delicious healthy food and drinks plus all his employees are happy people and soon greet you by name. Vegans and organics are safe here too. Without PH Coffee the Art Garden would not have had the necessary support and resources it needed to start and grow. Thank you Eric!“

“Food was quite tasty and the wine was poured generously.

The sauces and oils that came on the various dishes we ordered were very flavorful, but I had a hard time actually getting most of it in my mouth since the sauces didn’t really adhere well to the food, and all the dishes came in flat bowls so trying to scoop it up was a challenge.

We arrived when the restaurant first opened, so the dining room was empty, yet we were seated right next to another couple, which seemed like an odd thing to do. I feel like we could have been seated a little more sparsely and had a touch of privacy given the empty state of the dining room. There were 2 tables open on either side for the next half hour we were there. Our cutlery was also just put in a pile on the table when we were seated as well, not placed.

Overall, the food was good but aspects of the service and presentation could be better.“
