Great local dive bar with music out of the 90s and prices that take you back before the inflation. Katie was our bartender, friendly, and gave me a free shot since it was my first time at the bar. Definitely plan on a return.

My boyfriend and I were visiting KC and wanted to find some dive bars. Fat Matt's Vortex was the first one we stopped in to and it was great! Sam, the bartender, was so friendly and kind. Drinks were affordable. For sure will be back the next time we're in town!

I understand the appeal of a good dive bar, however this one lacks any sense of decorum. There was a man sitting at the end of the bar showing everyone his business ‘subtly.’ He was wearing gym shorts and hiking them up so his junk was hanging out. The bartender was told by multiple people about the situation and just thought it was hilarious. We were so uncountable that we left.
We didn't eat. We just stopped by to visit our favorite bartender LV. Mom never has been to a bar. ? ?

This has to be one of the strangest bars I've ever been to, but I welcome it. A former funeral home, turned bar, it has a unique atmosphere. Yeah, it's cash only, but that's not a big deal. They have antique pinball machines and a good selection.
