So many BBQ options in KC it has taken awhile for us to try Slaps. We had noticed the great reviews and long lines, so we had high expectations. And maybe that was the problem, we had high hopes and were underwhelmed. We tried the brisket, burnt ends, beef and jalapeño sausages, and a few sides. I like brisket moist, but this was pretty fatty……like a ribbon of solid fat the length of the slice…looked kind of like bacon. And it and the burnt ends were just kind of neutral flavor wise. The sausage was pretty tasty, especially the beef polish sausage. Cheesy corn was pretty generic, and little bland. The baked potato casserole and baked beans were both reasonably good however. As far as their sauces, they were just disappointing. Sweet is just that, super sweet, almost syrupy. Spicy was a little better, but still not very impressive.

Really good KC bbq, great sauce joint, the jalapeño smoked sausage is awesome (probably best item they serve). The Mike Johnson is a great great sandwich and imo one of KC's iconinc BBQ sandwiches. Its messy and huge, but definitely worth the stop to see what all the buzz has been about.

I ordered the two meat plate with burnt ends and jalapeno cheddar sausage. Beans and cheesy corn on the side. All of it, delicious. The BBQ sauce options (sweet or spicy) compliment the meats well. You will not leave hungry.

Always a must!!! Just in kansas side of KC but worth it. 2 patios to stay and enjoy the awesome award winning BBQ, or take it on the go either way worth the stop. Staff is awesome and will help with anything on the menu..

The meats were very good, especially the ribs. The sides were not good at all. My biggest issue is that I travel for BBQ and I buy shirts whenever I can. After I was done eating, I went back inside to get a shirt. I asked the lady behind the drink counter about getting a shirt, and she immediately said that they were out of stock. I could literally see piles of shirts on the rack behind her. Then, as I was leaving, I saw her leaving as well. It really seemed like she just didn’t want to be bothered with selling me a shirt.

Watched Slaps compete on Pit Masters so we thought we would give them a try while in KC for a Chiefs game. We left disappointed. The burnt ends had no bark or smoke and tasted like pot roast. My husband got ribs and they were the same. A sad ending to a otherwise great trip.$)

The atmosphere was unique. Great day for an outdoor, picnic, type of feel. The food never fails, with smoky sweet BBQ and if you love Mac n cheese, cheesy corn, even the fries are amazing 👏. I often tire of BBQ themed restaurants, but l will definitely be back! Gotta get my slap on!
