The best part of Kansas City is having so many good barbecue places throughout all of KC! Here's another place you must visit!

Best Ribs in KC in my opinion. Ribs fall right off the bone! Delicious stuff at Slap’s!

Was on the road and needed some actual bbq and not that stuff they call bbq in Arkansas.. anywho, this place was great! Definitely hit the spot and will be back in the spring. Smoked our last bit of flower before entering so this hit extra hard.

Hands down the worst ribs I have ever had. Meat tasted boiled and absolutely NO seasoning. There was a smoke ring but no smoke flavor. Only seasoning was lightly sprinkled on top after the ribs were cooked.
Brisket was ok at best and had sweet BBQ on it. Immediate no for me. Brisket should never be smoked with or finished with a sauce.
Sausage was good and burnt ends ok.
Sides were like the kind you get in an elementary school cafeteria. Baked beans were inedible, canned with a bottle of sweet BBQ sauce dumped on top. This was my first time. I probably wouldn't't bring anyone here.

Delicious BBQ, we got two sampler platters for four people and it was a lot of food. We had leftovers for another meal. The ribs were excellent and I liked their sides. Will visit again when I'm back in town.

I got two sandwiches and a side of fries with one drink and it cost me $44. It's good but it's definitely not THAT good.

We enjoyed the barbecue and the sides at Slap's. We visited on a cool winter day, so they had their side terrace covered in a plastic, and the heaters were blasting (actually a bit too warm in there). There was nothing absolutely amazing about the food, but all of it was good. The price was much better than at Q39, which is also good sometimes.

I grew up in this part of the city. Staff are great. Classic KC BBQ and a very open, clean, DIY dining room. Fully in my rotation.

The ribs are fantastic. And so is the brisket. I will definitely be back. Me and my husband love it.

Went in on a Saturday night in December. It wasn’t too busy, but the dining hall was full, but people seem to not linger too long after they’ve eaten so the tables do become available. When you are waiting to order the meat selections are on the wall. When you order then make a platter and then weigh the meat as you’re paying by weight. There are great local beers on tap. The offering is very informal. Disposable foil trays with parchment paper on a cafeteria tray, you are getting authentic cafeteria style BBQ. It’s get your own sauces and napkins, utensils and your drinks come in plastic cups. We ordered the meat platter and got brisket, sausage, burnt ends and turkey. All of the meat was cooked perfectly, we also ordered fried cheese curds as a side. They were to die for!
We shared this platter for 2 people, and it was enough with the sides. The Mac and cheese was good but the coleslaw let it down for me. Tasted like watery generic slaw. They give so much bread as well, I guess in case you want to make yourself a sandwich. Definitely a KC BBQ staple worth eating at.

We love slaps! I usually get the pick 2 sandwhich with sausage and brisket. Always a good bite, but kind of disappointed every time because the meat is never hot enough for my liking. Just warm.

Stopped here for first time while visiting for the holidays. Have tried about every BBQ place in KC over the years. I don’t mind paying for quality BBQ because i understand the amount of time it takes to master. But my experience at Slaps was a huge disappointment. First of all Burnt End Combo included 4-5 small pieces of burnt ends and 2 small slices of turkey, not even enough to make a sandwich for $18.95!!!
No smoke flavor tasted like it was cooked in a pressure cooker although the beans were very good. It blows my mind how these great competition BBQ champions can asked top dollar for mediocre food based on reputation. Sadly will never return to this place. i like their sauce but food was underwhelming!
