So many BBQ options in KC it has taken awhile for us to try Slaps. We had noticed the great reviews and long lines, so we had high expectations. And maybe that was the problem, we had high hopes and were underwhelmed. We tried the brisket, burnt ends, beef and jalapeño sausages, and a few sides. I like brisket moist, but this was pretty fatty……like a ribbon of solid fat the length of the slice…looked kind of like bacon. And it and the burnt ends were just kind of neutral...
Really good KC bbq, great sauce joint, the jalapeño smoked sausage is awesome (probably best item they serve). The Mike Johnson is a great great sandwich and imo one of KC's iconinc BBQ sandwiches. Its messy and huge, but definitely worth the stop to see what all the buzz has been about.
Slap’s is one of the best BBQ joints in KC. Incredibly tender meat, generous portions, delicious sides, and a fun vibe inside and out! The burnt ends and turkey are top notch. We always love visiting!
