Yeah, I don't really get what this place is trying to pull. Came on the recommendation from a friend.
Brisket comes out looking like lunch meat that has been warmed up in the microwave. No real smoke flavor or seasoning. Wafer thin slices of what is basically dry lunch meat. Not very much of it either.
The turkey looked the same too me - lunch meat. Pulled porked looked better but I didn't order it. My other friends got the ribs - ton of smoked ribs for $20, looking like a cave man meal. I tried one of those and that seemed like the deal of the day.
My Mac and cheese side was pretty good. But I don't come to a BBQ joint for Mac and cheese with a side of lunch meat.
Sorry, but this wasn't really it, today.

Went here today. Left my dog in the truck with the windows down. Ordered a brisket sandwich and went to bathroom to wash hands. When I came out found my dog had jumped out of the truck came inside and the staff had seated him at a table with water bowl and a big milk bone ! My sandwich was as good as any I have ever had in KC ! What a friendly place, will definitely be back ! Thanks guys !

This is a great BBQ joint. If you want true to the game BBQ and great service this is your spot. Brisket is sliced thin and is tender. The fries are amazing too.

We went originally to participate in an open mic on a Friday. Didn't realize it was cancelled. Very cool place - in fact we are in contact with the owners about putting on a show there (follow us Secondhand Smoke Band KC or them on Facebook For any developments). The food was GREAT!!!

My husband and I just moved to southeast Kansas after years of cooking in Philadelphia to open our own restaurant. We’ve been popping up to KC to try bbq spots as much as possible. This one was by far the best we’ve been to. Awesome vibe and AMAZING FOOD. The ribs blew everyone else out of the water. Perfect!

Really sad! It’s been awhile since we’ve been here and was excited to try again, we loved it the first few times!!. Onion rings and pickles were the best. No smoke on meat, my ham and brisket came out cold, beans soggy and not much flavor and Mac and cheese..ok but not the best. Spent $53 on this meal. I am taking all my meat home to heat and add my own sauce. Sauce was watery. Maybe we will come back but probably not.

I had a brisket plate with cheesy corn. It was delicious and a reasonable portion size! The space is a little funky with the seating in a separate building from where you order, it would be nice to have a little additional signage for those of us on our first visit. The staff was kind and helpful, clean tables with a lovely rustic vibe.
