El Potro Mexican cafe Lawrence

We hadn’t been there in awhile and glad we stopped- everything was so good! I had the Mahi Mahi tacos and a sangria margarita, both delicious. Burrito was great according to the husband. Spinach queso and salsa good as expected. Service was great, atmosphere fun. We’ll be back soon!

Awesome food, fantastic service and nice atmosphere. Our server Alejandro was super kind and he helped us a lot. It’s also a family friendly place. I ordered El Texan and it was delicious, very stuffing. I’m looking forward to come here again

Ordered fajita burrito, meat was good but no green or red peppers in it, very little sauce on top and cheese on top burnt.

My poblano chicken burrito was delicious! I absolutely loved the flavor combinations of the Cheeses, poblano peppers, zucchini and mushroom.

I like this place but have had the fajitas twice and didn't care for them. Not much flavor and the veggies were raw

Served fajitas without the tortillas. Waitress never came back to check on us. I had to flag down a different waitress! The queso was grainy abd lukewarm. I ate herr a month ago for the first time and it was excellent so I came back. What a disappointment.

Any Mexican dish you can think of, this restaurant has it! I was in Lawrence taking care of father after his knee replacement surgery, and we chose to eat there three times! Everything we had was SO good. Great drinks, too.

Update 8-28-24
My daughter and son-in-law were home with a week old baby in Lawrence so we decided to call in our order 40 minutes in advance so we could just pick it up and go see our new grandson and treat them to dinner. The food and service had been wonderful the week before. Called in the order, confirmed that I did not need to order the salsa and chips extre but that one salsa and one bag of chips would be included with each meal, in our case was 4 + 2 orders of queso and 1 guacamole and a sour cream. We arrived 45 minutes later and still waited 15 minutes for our order. When a lady, dressed very nice (manager maybe) handed my husband the one bag, he asked her if this was everything. $100.00 of food in one bag? She was very short and rude with him... Yes, yes that is it! Got back to my kids house.... one meal was prepared incorrectly and we had no salsa and chips. It will be awhile before we go back now. Very disappointed after telling all my friends and family how great it was the first time. I even went to thier website to submit a message, no option for that, so here I am.

I would say the service was the high point. Margaritas were okay, but I wish I would have taken advantage of the extensive drink menu instead. The chips, salsa, and queso were great, the entrees were good in flavor but texturally lacking. Our server was very professional! Though my bean order was incorrect, they were still delicious.
