We gave this restaurant a second try because we did not love it the first time for dinner. It was rushed and the food was so-so. With it being parents weekend in Lawrence, three of the restaurants we went to had 40+ minute waits. We thought we hit a hidden gem when this restaurant had only three tables of customers. There is a reason why there was room....it was not so good. With no one there, it still took a while to be brought waters. While we were waiting, a couple walked in and were immediately greeted and their drink orders taken. Their drinks were delivered while we continued to wait for service. We ordered a cup of coffee and diet coke. A few minutes later the coffee was delivered to he wrong person (not a big deal), and we waited another 10 minutes for the diet coke and our order to be taken. The other table received their food while we were ordering. I wish we had just left and found a better spot to enjoy a special lunch/brunch. My husband said the sausage omelet was terrible, with peppers and onions that were cold in it. I had pancakes with a tiny dish of syrup. I asked for butter and more syrup. I never received the syrup, and it really did not matter because the cold butter they brought, and I put all over the pancakes was garlic butter. Yep, it tasted as terrible as it sounds. No one came to follow up and we were just ready to go....especially since the table are right next to each other, and at the next table was a gentleman who brought his hear of hearing mom to the restaurant, and spent the entire time yelling at her, trying to help her learn to use her new cell phone. We could not even have a conversation. We were so ready to leave....there will not be a third time. So many great options....so bummed we wasted a special lunch here.

Food was lukewarm and average at best. There were only a few customers at the restaurant so the food should’ve been hot. Pricey for what it was.

There should be a line out the door for this gem. Service ✅ Haley is the best! Coffee- amazing 🤩 bloody Mary’s- delicious! Just had the best Italian sausage omelette. We will for sure be back 🥰

This is an absolute gem of a brunch place. We have been coming here from KC almost every Sunday for 5 weeks now just for their brunch. Everyone is super friendly, the drinks are top notch and the food is AMAZING!! We just need to come now at a *not brunch* time and try thier regular food.

Genovese has quickly become our favorite place for lunch or dinner. The food is amazing and we love the desert we enjoy after our meal. If only we could get Myka as our server every time. She is wonderful.
