Genovese has quickly become our favorite place for lunch or dinner. The food is amazing and we love the desert we enjoy after our meal. If only we could get Myka as our server every time. She is wonderful.

Went there for lunch on Sunday. It wasn't very busy. The chicken parm is what I ordered. Big serving and it came with risotto instead of pasta. It's extra $ for pasta. The risotto looked to have a tomato base with peas and carrots. Definitely not my favorite way of having risotto and it didn't have much flavor, plus there were some crunchy pieces. Next time I would order pasta. For $23, pasta should be an option not more $. It is worth trying something else if I go back.

I updated the hours online to reflect the time they opened on Saturdays. Wonderful, friendly service. Tasty, spicy bloody mary. Good portions and great flavor in our brunch orders. Good prices for Mass Street. We will be back soon!

Appetizers - calamari, bruschetta, risotto fritters were all pretty good but the fritters were a little lacking in salt. The entrees - chicken parm, penne Alfredo, spaghetti, meatballs were all completely lacking in flavor and spice and the chicken was the consistency of a frozen dinner. The gnocchi was good though definitely get that if you come. 2nd star for high quality of cocktails and service.

We ordered the chicken Parmesan, and it came out with about 2 tablespoons of sauce. Unacceptable. When we asked for more to bring it up to a more normal level, we were charged for it. They up charged for changing out the pasta dish that came as a side too. Don’t understand how spaghetti is an up charge to risotto which was on the menu. The happy hour margaritas had a little if any alcohol. $100 including gratuity. Very disappointed, Won’t go back.

The food at Genovese is wonderful. We've eaten here (drinks and apps, or full meals) probably 8-10 times since the beginning of summer, and each time we come away feeling happily satisfied with the delightful culinary experience. Have often tried the specials, and they've been consistently tasty. Cocktails are prepared well, and service has been great. Pleasant place to relax on the patio. Highly recommend.

Stopped by one recent Friday night after work and we tried the Tuna appetizer, it was delicious. We also tried the meat cheese board and finished with my favorite homemade pappardelle pasta dish. I order it every-time, cant help it, it's so good. We will be coming back for the Tuna appetizer as well. Our bartender, Alex if I recall, was great!!! I got the lemon cello cocktail and my husband got something special from the whiteboard which he enjoyed. Afterwords I enjoyed an Expresso martini that was creamy and DELICIOUS!! It was pretty crowded this night but still intimate in it's own way. Overall experience excellent!!!

We went on a Friday night and were immediately sat, and our wait staff was absolutely amazing, everything came out so quick and our waters were NEVER empty. The food was absolutely amazing, we ordered 2 appetizers and 2 meals and they were all delicious. I’ll definitely be recommending this place to others.
This restaurant is fabulous! In the 50 years I’ve lived in Kansas City, MO, I had never been to Lawrence until 2 weeks ago. I took my two youngest grandchildren to the sunflower farm and then went into Lawrence to eat on Tuesday, 9/10/24. We chose Genovese because we all love Italian cuisine. The kids had Alfredo penne pasta and I had the chicken Parmesan dinner. The portions were quite generous. We ordered some delicious bread and a also a pizza. Everything was scrumptious! The service was great, the prices very reasonable, and all the food was fantastic. We split a Tiramisu for dessert and it was delicious. On the way home, my 10 year old grandson said: “That restaurant was delightful” (I don’t know where he comes up with his descriptive words) and he said he’d give it a 10 out of 10. Then he mentioned how cool the restroom was decorated and how clean it was. On 9/12/24 I took my two middle grandchildren to see the sunflowers and they wanted to go to “that Italian restaurant that Carter and Laya loved.” My granddaughter had the chef made Gnocchi, which was delicious. My picky grandson had the Penne Bolognese, which was excellent, and I had the spaghetti and meatballs (which were huge and tasty.) We split a Tiramisu for dessert. The food was excellent; but, there were two parties of 10-12 people which slowed down the service a bit. We all decided that, even though we had to wait, it was worth it for the delicious food. We sat on the patio and the kids were very entertained by people watching. There was a young man doing wheelies on his lighted bicycle and he even rode it standing on the seat…which the kids thought was very cool. I took my oldest grandson to see the sunflowers on 9/16, and as we were leaving, he asked if we could go get Italian food. We went again to Genovese and sat on the patio. We ordered their delicious bread, my grandson had the spaghetti and meatballs, and ordered a side order of 3 meatballs. I had the chicken parmesan again. Everything was very tasty, the service was stellar, and it was a beautiful evening. Once again, we split the Tiramisu for dessert. The portions are very generous. I took my leftovers home and split it with my husband for dinner the next night. We all loved the restaurant, and want to go back for lunch one day soon, as they only serve sandwiches during lunchtime…and the selection of sandwiches looked awesome! Even though it’s an hour drive from our house, all 5 grandkids said they’d love go again SOON! I highly recommend this restaurant if you’re looking for delicious, reasonably priced food and great service.
