There were 2 couples, we all ordered something different and everything was great. Crab cakes, beet salad, J. Wilson's burger and Chicken Marsala was the special. Clean plates, all around; the food and service was great! We can always count on having a great meal in a pleasant unhurried atmosphere here.

Love this place. I make it my go to celebration spot. Their are perfect every time. I alway used this restaurant for for an excellent stop when I lawrence but last saterdy night I ordered the Filet Mignon and it was tuff as an ankle bone this really hurt my opion of the place. I did not complain as to not ruin my date night with the wife. But doubt I return for 100 dollar not even a kc stripe quality filet.

Food is always on point. Love the Spaghetti Squash Bake with salmon (my go-to). We also enjoyed the crab & artichoke Flatbread. Good wine selection and yummy Espresso martinis.

Delicious food and our server Mackenzie was lovely! She was patient with my friend and I taking extra long deciding what to order, and even allowed us to move to a shady table when it opened. I had the quiche and a biscuit with jam - so good! I cleaned my plate and so did my friend who ordered the crab cakes. I didn’t take pics of our food. Sorry! Just know it was plated very neatly and looked as good as it tasted.

It does give fine dining, steak was overcooked but still pretty good. Crembrule and ice wine is to die for.

The pork chop was served completely raw. The center of the pork chop was only bright pink with no signs of it being cooked. When questioned they said it was fine because they used to use meat thermometers, and because their meat is special and it could be undercooked because of what the animals are fed and how it's harvested. This made no sense. So they only took half off of the meal, but gave one free dessert.

I'm not sure, but I would think that would be illegal to serve completely raw pork in a restaurant.

Update: the next day the manager contacted us and removed the entire meal from our bill which was the right thing to do.

We booked a reservation here to celebrate a friend's proposal. Our waiter was amazing. He was incredible at recommending dishes and also answering any questions that we had. Or reservation was an hour before they closed and he still gave us an incredible service. Food was also great! Wish I would have taken pictures. The salad was a bit small for its price but it was still super yummy! Would definitely return for special occasions in Lawrence.

I got a blueberry lemon pancake it was yum! Also got the blue crab cakes and was underwhelmed. Not seasoned well at all. Very bland. And I found the muffin to be way too thick.. My husband got the biscuits and gravy and he too was underwhelmed. It too was bland. Service was good. No complaints there. Not sure if I’d go back though with having lack of flavor to the food.

Uppity and pretentious. I googled the “best steak in Lawrence KS”- and this second rate, overpriced excuse was at the top (smh). I was fairly shocked after ordering a $15 cocktail that no bread was served. I ordered, waited, got a little tipsy, then my plate arrived (see photo), server forgot to ask me if I wanted a starch, so a nearly empty plate arrived, and my waiter said “Enjoy”. I mean, who serves THAT and doesn’t ask a question. Scolding ensued.
Filet was perfectly cooked, but unseasoned, except for flavorless grocery store butter. Looked pretty pathetic with 3 asparagus spears on the plate. I made the wrong choice of eateries, left hungry.

This is one of my favorite brunch spots usually but this last time the food either had a lot going in, or was a tad bland unfortunately. Must be a different Chef. Love this place so i’ll check back with them in 6mo.

Servers were in training. Shrimp are popcorn size. Have to wear mask anytime talking to staff. Not an enjoyable meal.
So much better 3 years later, just sitting at the bar. Appetizers were great! Service as well.
