Indeed, the original. Nothing fancy. Long ago, college kids would open up it at at 7 am when the Quaker oaks employees would get off of work. Actually prefer the Johnny's at Corinth.
This was a wonderful surprise - we came up from Wichita for Parents weekend / KU! Our son brought us here not telling us where we were going - Johnny's Tavern was one of his Dads favorite places to go when his head wasn't in those Engineering books 40 years earlier 1985. Johnny's wasn't this big then, it was just the bar side but it was equally memorable! I can't tell you how happy it made me to see him smile the entire time, not only Dad having both...
I love this place, I'm always here almost every night when I'm in town for work. The servers and people are always friendly and welcoming, made friends with several of them. Highly highly recommend stopping in and getting a Tank 7 Melt and a Blue Collar Lager
