I had read all the reviews about having to order and then they bring the food. It was weird, but ok. Paying $6 for a basket of chips isn't really cool but they were good. The food was really good and I am kind of a mexican good snob, growing up with authentic mexican. They do not have regular frozen margaritas, just on the rocks which was a huge disappointment for me. My husband had the frozen mango margarita and it was just ok. They can definitely do better there. We sat on the patio on a beautiful evening so was worth trying. With so many great options for mexican food in Lawrence, I will say I probably won't be returning. The margarita is a deal breaker for me. 3 stars instead of 5 for that reason. Seems like an easy thing for them to correct.

Worse Mexican restaurant I have ever ate at. Menu is very limited. Chips were not free but we received Pico sauce ??? You have to order at the door when you walk in. Few choices on the menu. Waitress did not service the table. No one ask us about refills. Customers were going back up to where you order for refills. Salt and pepper were the only items on the tables, no napkins. I will not eat here again, nor will I recommend this place.

La Tropicana has the best outdoor patio in town. Plenty of seating, plants and lively pottery to view, and very well shaded. The food is excellent and generous. It is a gem.

This place has been one of my all time favorites for many years! The food is incredible! Some of the best Mexican food I have had. Service is stellar. Food is made to order and ALWAYS fresh! If you have not tried this restaurant, I highly suggest a trip across bridge.

We came here with some friends because we drive by and say we wanted to go try it out. It’s a great little neighborhood place with nice colorful decor. Fitting for the restaurant. We had fantastic service and delicious food. The food is nothing over the top but the service, food and margaritas combo makes it worthwhile.

There is no service you order food and pay then go set at a table they bring food but if you need something else you have to go back to front counter and pay again most Mexican restaurants give free chips and salsa they don't which is okay but ordered chips and salsa and the bowl of salsa was only about a quarter full so if you want more you have to go buy more, food was okay but very bland we were very disappointed
Nice environment but the beans were bland. The Verde sauce tasted commercial and the biggest thumbs down was they charged us for the chips and salsa. If you wanted more chips or salsa they charged you again for that. I eat at Mexican restaurants all the time (I love the food) and never have to pay for the chips and salsa. I do not plan to eat at this place again considering every other place gives them for free. I do not like be price gouged.

If I could give 0 stars I would ? service is slow as hell if at all, the “queso” is literally velveta.. tastes like straight up Mac and cheese and the chips were cold and stale. You get your own drinks/refills no servers come out to check on you, silverware wasn’t brought out with the food, waited a hour 1/2 for a couple enchiladas and rice. 65$+ meal for what? They were not busy at all when my friend and I went so we figured service would’ve been better. There’s a younger server girl who don’t ever seem to know what’s going on & talks with no respect and is everywhere. Just go to canes instead and save some time and 60$ ???♀️

What a wonderful Mexican restaurant in North Lawrence where the food is made in house with delicious ingredients. We wanted to continue shopping during our girls' day trip, so we kept lunch simple with tacos and tostados. We will be back to try some other things in the near future. This family business sure knows what they are doing!! ?
