This is easily the best Mexican food I've had in years. We used to live in Texas, but since we moved to Massachusetts the Mexican food is sorely lacking. I figured this would be ok, nothing special but I was so wrong. This was absolutely wonderful!

A friend and I dined at Molcajetes for the first time yesterday. It was amazing! Wonderful food and great service. We will definitely be back. Of all the Mexican restaurants I’ve been to in Lawrence, Molcajetes is now my favorite.
Appropriately named, the molcajete is the best part of the menu. They have good spicy options and a great drink menu.

I was incredibly disappointed when I came to Molcajete's.
Upon arrival, we were not greeted aside from three of the six people looking up from their phones. Finally, in a huff, they brought us to a table, only to go back to their phone.
Mind you, this was around 6pm, on a Thursday night, and the restaurant was empty.
The table we were sat at was dirty, and all of the employees continued to be on their phones. Only one person moved to bring water; got back on their phone, then eventually brought chips and salsa. Zero pleasantness. One employee sneered in our direction multiple times, as if we disrupted the party they were having. Safe to say, we left and went to El Mezcal, immediately being treated 100% better.

The food was fantastic! Had a really delicious enchilada plate. Would eat here again when in town. We like visiting the antique mall across the street. We will be back!

The food was amazing and filling, I had leftovers, to start. Like every Mexican restaurant should have is free chips and salsa. The only reason I only gave a four instead of a five for service is that it wasn't memorable in any way. Lastly it was large enough, but I'm pretty sure it had more seating for overflow or party's. Definitely a checkout if you want inexpensive and to not eat fast food. That reminds me, the food was on our table super quickly and steaming hot.

If I could give this place a zero I would. The health department needs to be contacted due to the amount of bugs in this restaurant. The bugs were crawling in the food!!!!! Do not come here ever

Was told there would be a 30-45 minute wait for my friends birthday dinner with a group of 8. I thought that was a reasonable wait time and the hostess took my phone number so that we can “reserve a spot” like any other restaurant. I come back after 45 minutes and I am told that they do not do reservations so them taking my phone number was pointless and I waited 45 minutes for no reason. I understand the restaurant is busy, but this is ridiculous. I have worked in the food industry, and this should not be acceptable. Do better.
