The service was very slow . Ordered a gluten free salad and it was not gluten free. Sever never returned to table for able 20 minutes to have her Return and make her aware of incorrect order, by time salad was corrected the rest of the group was finished eating. Slow service. It would have been better to not have musican playing so we could talk to each other. No toilet paper in bathrooms. Wasn't that busy so not sure why food was slow. Lots of having to wait, not being able to hear on another. Food was good but not worth the hazzle. Next time will go somewhere else.
We had a wonderful experience at Rock and Hawk Sports Bar. We celebrated a graduation with 6 people. Everyone raved about the food and the service was on point.
It was loud crowded and slow. No kids menu was a shock as well. $15 chicken fingers for the kids. Waited 30 minutes before our drinks arrived and our food order taken. Much preferred the menu when it was Bird Dog.
We loved our evening at the Bird Dog Bar! We will definitely go back there for another great evening!!!
Booked the reservation (8) on January 12th for February 23rd; however, upon arrival we discovered the main dining room was closed for maintenance/renovations. We were able to pivot to Encore, where we had a great dinner. But, the purpose of dining at Bird Dog was to experience a spot unique to the University of Kansas. I realize things happen, just a heads up would've been nice.
Basically they were understaffed. One bartender in a college town after a game. Brought wrong drinks and after 40 minutes we left without eating
Whatever you do, don't order the skillet nachos. The menu says it comes with sour cream and pick - it doesn't. We returned our first order because they were burnt and only had cheese and some meat. Our waitress was kind enough to bring us two new orders - not burnt but still just meat and cheese. I'm not paying $20 for that.
I had the fish and chips and they were soggy and not at all crisp. My son had the tiniest salmon filet, tablespoon of rice and mushy Brussels sprouts for $25. The BYO burger and Cobb salad were fine but it was pretty MEH! We decided to go on a Friday to celebrate and we're just underwhelmed. Wasn't horrible. But definitely wasn't great or even good.
We went for brunch prior to a basketball game. No valet available, but free garage parking. Great menu selection. Service was great, attentive. Gravy was amazing, biscuits a little hard. Breakfast burritos and chorizo omelette good.
Sadly the service is worse than poor. The service has never been great but have cut them some slack with the excuse of being busy. We were there when it was not busy. After being seated for 15 minutes, we had to ask for menus and water which never got refilled, one meal was forgotten then it was not even made to how the menu described it. Least of all, if you could only communicate it would be much better. The one meal was taken off the bill but the whole experience for our family was strained. Seriously get your act together, it's sad that you represent what should be a nice establishment in the Oread.

Great experience at Bird Dog. We appreciate the friendly service, exceptional hospitality, and delicious food. The french fries are seriously the best I've had; crunchy, innovative shape, perfectly spiced. Sounds dramatic, but try them for yourself! The wings are great, and we always order the pretzels. We plan to visit again.
Had a lunch reservation on graduation day and was so disappointed in our experience - was a terrible ending to a happy day. While I expected service to take longer than normal, we waited over an hour for our food. The onion rings were burnt. We wanted to send them back but our server did not return so we finally ate them bc we were starving. When the food we ordered for our meal finally arrived, it was terrible. My salad was completely wilted - the greens appeared to be cooked and the plate was hot. When I said this to the server, he said it was supposed to be this way. It was inedible. The other food was cold but we did not want to wait any longer for them to correct it. I never write reviews, but this was such a terrible experience that I decided to share our experience. Friends who had not even made a reservation finished their meal at another restaurant before we were even served.
Energetic, fun servers. Food was solid bar food. Options limited perhaps due to a very busy weekend in a college town.
We went there for the Easter buffet and were very disappointed. Food was very average at best.. overcooked prime rib and all meats were very dry. They even added on a 21% tip and didn't inform us that was the policy for Easter. We found out ourselves. Pretty disappointed with this as we traveled in from Denver and we can't recommend.
First of all.. the taste of the food was great .. the prime rib was too tough to chew .. I arrived at 10:30 and the buffet had more lunch - dinner items than breakfast... the event ad made it seem like mimosa's and bloody Mary's were included in the cost .. after all it was $50 a person.. many other people thought that also... it was not and the charge was pretty high..... the service was amazing .. honest review..
