This place could be great. The location is cool, the decor is trendy, and the drinks are decent. But none of that matters when the person running the place is openly hostile to paying customers.
My friends and I came in to celebrate a birthday — nothing wild, just six of us grabbing drinks and catching up. We were being respectful and spending plenty of money. About halfway through the night, one of us politely asked if the music could be turned down just a notch. Not off, not even low — just slightly less shout-over-each-other volume.
That’s when the owner came over and lectured us. I’m not exaggerating — he stood at our table and launched into a weird rant about how this was “his bar, his vibe, and if we didn’t like it, there were plenty of other places that play Taylor Swift on repeat.” He literally mocked us in front of other customers. We were stunned.
No one was being rude to him. We were just trying to have a conversation without yelling. The whole mood of the night shifted after that — we finished our drinks and left. On the way out, he muttered something profane under his breath.
I don’t care how “cool” your bar looks or what you charge for drinks. If you’re going to treat people like they’re inconveniencing you by being there, you shouldn’t be in hospitality. We’ll gladly give our business to someone who respects their customers.

The bartender was amazing and very cool! They have a digital jukebox and it has all our favorite songs. The bartender & all its regular customers were very tolerant to us singing and dancing to the music that we played on the jukebox.

The bartender is awesome. Me and my friend (26 and 25) are there at least 3x a month for the past 4 months. And whenever we get to the bar the bouncer goes to extreme lengths to check my friends id. Going as far as to ask for a second form and has barred him from enterance because there was a time he couldnt do so. Please keep your bouncers sober and well tempered. Bro actually grumbled in anger when my friend had all types of id cuz we anticipated this, sadly enough.

My husband and his friends regularly meet here for drinks. The bouncer has repeatedly been hostile towards my husband. Specifically, questioning his age despite presenting his drivers license (and a secondary form of ID as requested). Mind you, we are in our mid-twenties and appear younger. However, there's no reason to antagonize someone for their looks - especially when presenting valid ID. Further, my husbands ID photo is up-to-date, and it is a Kansas ID. For those of us born appearing youthful (or as some call it, baby-faced), avoid this bar - especially if you prefer not to be bullied by bouncers.
Bring your own food. Simply one of the best bars in Lawrence. Wide selection of local and regional craft beers. A Lawrence institution!

This is my favorite bar in Lawrence. It's the best place in town for a midday pint. It's also great for happy hour and weekend evenings. The newly renovated patio is a great spot to sip a drink while watching the world go by. They have great prices, fresh popcorn, pool, darts, and live sports. What more could you want?
