i made a reservation at the Ten restaurant a week prior for a holiday business dinner for our party of six. Upon arriving, we were taken to the Birddog Bar to be seated. I informed the hostess that our reservation was for the Ten restaurant. The Manager appeared and said that while we made a reservation at the Ten restaurant, it was booked for the evening and we'd have to settle on the Birddog. Only after my wife and I had a heated conversation with the Manager did he seat us in the Ten restaurant. While we had an enjoyable evening,, we will not return to the Ten restaurant. Beginning our evening out having to argue with the Ten restaurant Manager over a reservation we made isn't worth the hassle. There are many fine dining options in Lawrence and KC. We are long term residents of Lawrence and will notify our friends and business associates of our negative experience.
Came here with my son who is moving here from Lafayette LA for work. We sat at the bar. I got a filet and my son got the penne pasta. Both were good. I had a word with the manager who explained that the meat was not graded. I never heard that before. All meat for human consumption in the US must be graded by US Agricultural inspectors. I got the filet anyway. The meat was very good. I had sides of asparagus and sliced potatoes. My son enjoyed the pasta. We drank a couple of beers. All in all a good meal. We would return for the food. But I would like to find out about the grade of the beef. Mark.
Place was empty at 8pm on Friday night. Very limited menu, pale weird lettuce and cold soup. This place has gone down! I'd be shocked if they are in business much longer.
Some of the best food and service in Lawrence, KS
We had smoked trout eggs Benedict, French toast, 2 egg breakfast and donuts. We loved it all. Excellent coffee as well. Worth the hour drive.
Great Brunch. $18.95 includes mimosa. Not coffee. Excellent prime rib. Omelette station. Waffle station. 2 types of green salads. Fresh Fruit plate. 1/2 of a table of desserts. Including cheesecake. Great roasted beets. Very clean, neat, and constantly restocked.
Well, this is where I decided to take my wife for her birthday. I think the servers and hostesses/host, do not communicate. Also the portions are way off. We ordered the Pork Shank and the 12oz KC Strip. The pork shank came out and was like a huge Turkey leg you would get from the Rennisaunce Fest, and the VERY average $37 (ugh) KC Strip was all alone on my plate with a small dollop of Garlic Mashed Potatoes. Both were too expensive for the taste, IMO. Manager had to remake my Long Island iced tea, and it was really good. Solid 3 stars, a bit too expensive though. Waiter, Hostess and Manager were very nice. Crem brí»lée was top notch. Coke Cola was excellent. Solid 3 stars
There have been very few times in my life when I've see Mac and cheese f***** up so bad. It's noodles with cheese MELTED INTO IT! Nope they said f*** that were turning the whole formula on its head! Okay get this. Cheese on top of the noodles. F****** BRILLIANT!
I was walking by on a Saturday afternoon at about 1:15pm and saw a street sign out front with their lunch special. It sounded good so I went inside. I stood in the entryway for a minute or two and saw a sign inside indicating they serve lunch until 2pm. Eventually a lady came out and gave me a strange look (maybe it was my casual appearance of khakis and a plain grey hoodie...it was about 25 degrees outside) and asked what I needed. I said I wanted to get lunch. She seemed immediately awkward and stuttered a bit eventually managing to spit out that the kitchen told her no more because they were just hammered. I looked around and the restaurant side (Ten Restaurant) was half empty. The bar side where a few tables had people eating was 3/4 empty. I looked at her for a moment then turned to leave. She mumbled something at my back as I reached the door. I wasn't interested in what she had to say at that point because im fairly certain her "we're slammed" excuse was complete nonsense and she just didn't want me there. I will never go back to Ten Restaurant or The Eldridge.
The Saffron Risotto was the star of our dinner! We added blackened chicken and liked the contrast to the richness of the risotto. Thursday was $5 martinis & it was fun to try some different ones. The tomato bisque was thicker than most but very tasty. The creme brí»lée was wonderful & came with blueberries. Our dessert was complimentary for our anniversary, which was a nice touch. Our server did a good job. This is a nice place for a special dinner. The only thing that I would change would be to come on a quiet evening- it was Homecoming weekend & loud, as expected.

The worst lunch I have had in many many years. The vegetarian "sandwich" was awful and the management could have cared less. It was labeled as a sandwich but it was 1/2 an english muffin with some picked artichokes,a tiny speck of red pepper and some wilted green of some kind and some melted cheese. I could have made it for $1. And it was open face which I would have never ordered but it said sandwich. I will never go back to this "restaurant!
I thought the food was aggressively average. Our dishes were pretty bland. We waited for refills at a non peak time of the day. Most of the dishes seemed dated. The atmosphere felt like a pre game for a round of bingo. Would be three stars. But a 200 dollar bill (yes with tip and a few drinks) for the few of us was pretty surprising due to the mediocrity of the food and service.
If you're from Texas, the steaks are miniature and do not(I repeat, Do Not) come with salad or potato. The cut of steak was tasty, just not much their for the price. The Salmon was quite fishy and also a small portion. The appetizer of bacon wrapped shrimp was very good.
My wife and I made a reservation here for Valentines Day and we were surprised. We did not know what to expect but we were pleased with everything about this place. Our service was prompt and attentive and the food and drinks were really good. We will definitely consider TEN next time we are looking for a nicer, special occasion, dinner.
Great atmosphere. Delicious food. Reasonable prices. Wait staff was friendly and professional. Enjoyed the entire evening.
