Contacted venue/etix as I have multiple times in the past prior to purchasing our tickets to confirm that needed disability accommodations would be possible for the show we were interested in. My significant other amd I are both disabled- but love music and try to support live music wherever feasible. Was assured it would not be an issue- we purchased the tickets. Received a email stating to arrive 45 to 60 minutes early to be seated. Same as we have several times. We arrived as directed there was a security guard who refused to give his name, refused to read the email we had received directing us to arrive early for seating. Was rude dismissive and accusatory speaking over us many times. It took multiple times of asking multiple employees to read the email discussing the accommodations we had requested. Then they read it and told us to go back outside and wait that there's benches there are but they were full. For a customer with a bad heart and mobility issues that limit my ability to stand for extended periods this is a nightmare. I followed directions and took all steps necessary to try to have a good experience but was treated rudely and spent an hour and a half standing hoping beyond hope I didn't have a syncope episode. And getting more fatigued trying to manage tachycardia in a line much longer than I can safely do. I was dismissed questioned and put at risk. I do not buy tickets if ada accommodations aren't available I can accept limits. Whats not at all acceptable is doing the footwork to check, request accommodations communicating with servicer and venue weeks ahead of time to be treated the way I was treated. Have never had the issue before- hence 2 stars instead of one. This is not a disability friendly venue.

Security and staff were friendly, as always the rave scene provides an amazing time. The bass here is phenomenal, love it in my feet and face

We love The Bottleneck! If there are shows that we want to see in the Kansas City area and St. Louis, if The Bottleneck is the Kansas City area option, we will drive there. The staff are super friendly, and the venue is cozy without being too small.

Best music venue in Lawrence, Kansas

Fun venue to see a show. Elevated stage made it an intimate place to see a concert. Great selection at the bar.

James Taylor

Awesome place. Been to tons of shows over the years

I've been to alot of concerts here. I like all the seating. The bathrooms are super small. I wish they would offer more drink choices like bottles of mikes hard lemonade, seagrams wine coolers, and smirnoff wine coolers.

Great place to catch a show, whether local or touring acts.

It’s got taller ceilings than it used to have. Good sound.

Came here with my kids to watch Dark Tranquility. Small venue felt more intimate with the band.

This is my favorite music venue of all time, period. The location is great, the atmosphere is freaking epic with a tastefully, well-maintained grungy /punkish (??) vibe, the sound is great and the staff are also really wonderful people!!

The venue can hold a sizable crowd but it's not massive. It's the perfect size in a sense: Shows that don't draw a massive crowd can still feel like they still have an audience, particularly if one is standing closer to the stage -- if that makes sense.

I hope to return soon. I haven't been able to do so for a few years now for medical reasons, but things are "looking-up" finally, if you will...! -- So allow me to share some photos I took from ~2018-2021. -- As a side-note, during the plague, they did a bit of a remodeling and opened up the vertical space. It looks like an airplane hangar, which is cool!! Though the place was great before, of course!! [Edit -- Looking at the uploaded images again, I am thinking these were all from 2021.]

Note that these images were not taken with a professional piece of kit. It's just that my favorite digital camera of all time is basically a consumer-grade point and shoot that happens to take really retro-looking images. Fix optics, etc. -- The noise texture looks straight out of 1979, which is a plus. No, really -- It is. I like the obvious noise texture...!! :)

Peace, and I hope to be back soon!!
