We made reservations well in advance for Christmas Eve dinner. Our service was so terrible and our waitress was so rude, we left after we finally got our incorrect drink order. We sat for an unreasonably long time before we were even greeted. After the waitress was openly hostile to us, we left money on the table for the incorrect drinks and left before we even ordered dinner. We walked 10 steps over to 715 and were greeted warmly and seated immediately at the bar. The service was top notch and the food was wonderful. The atmosphere was lively, fun and bustling. If you want great service, excellent food and great atmosphere, just go next door to 715. They saved our Christmas Eve date night, and we didn’t even have reservations! Thank you 715!!
Stopped in for a drink. Service and drinks were spot on.

I am very excited to experience happy hour here! We meet bff and her hubby and the experience begins! Yay! Out of the ordinary I order a Moscow mule which I haven't had in probably a decade (no eye rolling please ?). MacKenzie is our server and bartender. She is timely and the Moscow mule is absolutely the right amount of lime (no pucker) and ginger beer! She is also spot on asking what kind of vodka I like!!! Hubby and bff hubby order a draft beer ?. Ok, here we go. Seriously, buckle up. It's happy hour, and so bff orders the vegan wings after a litany of questions, which I don't disagree with. Cauliflower wings? WHAT? But! They're DELICIOUS! TASTE LIKE CHICKEN ? I order the onion rings (no horseradish nor horseradish sauce like free state) and the cauliflower bites. Hubby orders the Flatbread pepperoni pizza. Food arrives TEPID. I loathe tepid. The cauliflower bites are okay. It's alot of breading until I find a black hair embedded in my next bite. BLECH! The rest of the meal begins to unwind. Hubby's pizza is ok although he wipes the grease away. The onion rings are so beautifully presented (like all the food) it almost made me forget about the black hair in my food. Our server didn't charge us for hair in the food and she was an absolute delight and fabulous server and bartender. The bathrooms are extremely beautiful and "extra". Super clean and what you'd experience in a country club. I'm really grossed out by the hair in my food and wish food had arrived more than tepid. MacKenzie gets a 10 as she was spot on and fixed stuff that was woefully wrong out of the kitchen. I find it very concerning no manager addressed the hair in the food situation. We won't be back.

The food was very good, the dining area was neat & tidy, the service was good & the restrooms very clean. It's just a little bit pricey.

Food is excellent. Might have been the most perfectly cooked fries I've ever had. Perfectly crisp. Service was a little slow, but I think the waitress was in training still.

Today I have the shepherd's pie special for lunch and it was delicious. I especially liked the fresh ground lamb, fresh ingredients, attentive service, nice atmosphere. I if you haven't been for a while I'd highly recommend trying the holiday mules and specials created by Chef Mark, and recommend reservations for groups. You won't be disappointed. I've greatly enjoyed every meal that I've had these last few months. Well worth the trip!

This was my go-to date night spot until recently. It appears that there is a new chef who has made some less than stellar menu changes. The new options have replaced some of the best meals I’ve ever had and are not impressive. The pasta I had was bland and the presentation was sad. My dining partner felt the same way about the meal he ordered. It’s a beautiful restaurant and my only complaints about the atmosphere is that they would benefit from some sound dampening. If it’s even half busy it’s difficult to have a conversation. The noise is very uncomfortable when the dining room is full. I’ve been brought the wrong cocktail on at least two occasions. But other than that, service is great and I understand that mistakes happen.

When i'm in lawrence the elder's first place I go especially on thursdays
I love this old hotel. The rooms are very spacious with a separate bedroom and sitting room. The bar is lively and the bartender is great. I stay here every time I go to Lawrence. It is located near very good restaurants and shops and I love exploring downtown Lawrence

I'll be dreaming of the flavorful dishes I had here for weeks to come.
Great food.
Met here twice to watch KU basketball with a large group and both times we had a grand time—it helps that KU won, but also the staff in the bar/restaurant helped make our time pleasant as well. Don’t miss going into the basement of the hotel to check out the Big 6 room where you can see the old-timey mascots from the days when KU was in the Big 6 conference! Super cute. @kimyarla
