Local go to for great Mexican food. I decided to make a more mature edit for this.
I still, after 8 years, come back for the same dish and I can tell you everything tastes the same and is still delicious.

This used to be the next Mexican restaurant in the KC region. Today, I was disappointed. The food was not up to par. Must have a new cook. Red and green rice were overcooked. . Green rice tasted nothing like Cilantro. The entree was so so. What happened?
Even though the restaurant was empty we had to sit next to two large loud groups so we couldn't talk without raising our voices. Waitress was slow, food was fast and if I was to score it I'd give it a 7, and La Mesa would be an 8

Is there better Mexican food in the world? Of course. Is there better Mexican food anywhere near Leavenworth, KS? Of course not. This place has all of your small town Mexican restaurant staples, prepared well, with great service and a good atmosphere. You won't regret coming here.

It wasn't bad. It wasn't great. They do charge extra if you ask for hot salsa and dont tell you untill you get the bill. I never had that happen before
