I had plans to meet up with some girlfriends for dinner and they wanted to go to the Public Market. I'm vegan, so I always scout menus before going anywhere and I saw an appetizing bowl labeled vegan, but when I got there tonight it was no longer on the menu. The person working there said they had just removed it, but that they could make the vegetarian bowl vegan with a couple modifications. Immediately my expectations lowered because that left the meal consisting of potatoes, onions, bell peppers, salsa and guac. I try not to be too picky when I dine at places that kindly try to accommodate, but it was one of the worst meals I've ever had.
The guac was some weird paste-textured avocado spread that tasted wildly expired and the potatoes reflected the name of the place, they were grossly dried out cardboard chunks. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised the the potatoes were just leftover from ones they prepared 5 hours before. Wildly disappointing, especially for the cost and tip that I gave.
I was so hungry that I ate over half of it, but I instantly started to feel nauseated and here I am 2 hours later still with a very sour stomach burping that crap up.
The atmosphere and staff were lovely, but the food is atrocious. I can't believe they think sending something like that out from the kitchen is acceptable.
Wish I could get my money back.

I love this place. A fun place to sit down enjoy some snacks and a drink and play games with your friends.
I come here regularly with the Kansas City Game Designers group to playtest each others' games and give feedback. The atmosphere is fun, open, clean, and very accommodating for playing any kind of board game! Although I haven't tried much of the food at this specific location and their game selection is fairly limited. The staff is also generally friendly and very helpful and gracious for letting us play upstairs.

I usually come in the early morning and into brunch and they're usually not too busy. The food has always been perfect! Around this time there is usually only one person working but she is on top of everything. Super friendly and detail oriented madeline has always served exilence!

Their waffle tastes like the name of the store “Cardboard”. It’s the worst waffle I’ve had in my entire life. Don’t waste your money here but if you like something bland, go ahead :)

Awesome addition to the Public Market, can't believe I haven't reviewed them before! Free board games, friendly faces, fun food. Try the boba teas, or a D&D-themed cocktail! A lot of people don't realize they have a good bar menu. Also can't go wrong with a loaded baked-potato waffle!

They can make most of their menu items gluten-free. Their waffles are delicious. We shared Mediterranean waffles and strawberry banana Nutella waffles. It was Yummy! Will definitely go back.

5 stars for atmosphere, 5 stars for service, 0 stars for food.
I ordered the chicken and waffles. As a man who has very simple expectations from waffles, I was very disappointed. It was soft and floppy, no crunch and no flavor. The chicken was mediocre at best, especially given the +$10 price range. Trust me when I say this, you would be better off making Kellogg’s Eggo waffles.
However, the service was good. They also have board games which is cool.
I would come back again, but only for the free board games.

The right vibe for a public space, encouraging community play. It models the values of the PUBLIC market where it’s located.
+More food options than the OP location
-louder environment during busy hours can affect some game play and auditory sensitive types.

Slowest tea of my life. I ordered a tea and they apparently fulfill orders sequentially so I had to wait 10+ minutes for a tea that was stirring, already brewed and just needed to have a cup filled. But the person checking out took my tea order and then went to cook food. They need to rethink service. If it’s an easy fulfillment that should take less than 15 seconds is ridiculous to make someone wait for a simple tea pour. Can’t speak to food didnt try it. The tea was ok

Smaller than their home store in OP but still the same quality of food and service. Game wall selection is limited and it’s a very high traffic especially this weekend with the art festival. Seasonal drink was tasty, but small amount.
