We love Maps Coffee. We visit 4 to 5 times per week. It’s a great locally owned artisan shop and they roast their coffee in-house. I wasn’t a coffee drinker at all until Maps got me hooked. They also make their own chocolate and you can really taste the difference in quality from big-batch commercial chocolate. The staff is friendly and welcoming and within a few short visits they will call you by name and know your order. We always have great conversations with Vince and his team. I highly recommend you give them a try.

Where to begin… The shop itself has a fun décor and the limited seating fits the surroundings. The location boasts about making their own chocolate and roasting their own coffee. The chocolate is on display with little dishes sitting around each of the varieties for samples. The chocolate I found to be pretty good, albeit at a premium. There were your typical swag and brew accessories on sale as well, with a variety of bagged beans available for take home. Seeing the roaster on the floor in full display, gave me high hopes for the coffee at this location. I ordered a cortado, as this is one of my go to drinks to rate the quality of everything. They appeared to have decent equipment and a solid grinder, however, I wasn’t immediately familiar with the single group machine they were using. The cortado was a complete disaster of a beverage. The barista was friendly but as I was watching the extraction and the steaming of the milk I became quite nervous of the drink I was going to receive. The way the milk was poured, left no doubt that the beverage was not going to be great. The pour left an incredible amount of untextured foam that completely took away from what a cortado is supposed to be. The beverage was scalding. Leaving zero flavor from either the milk or espresso. Made an attempt to let it cool to see if there were any redeeming qualities, there was not. Really had high hopes for this location and found that it was quite surprising that the attention to detail was lacking when they are trying to sell themselves as a quality roaster. If the baristas of the roaster are unable to craft an excellent beverage, to demonstrate how great their coffee is, what am I to make of the beans for sale? I wondered if it were because of the machine hadn’t been calibrated, since it was 30 minutes until closing time, or something else. Or maybe, this is just their style? Either way, I do not recommend the coffee here, but the chocolate, might be worth a visit for many.

I used to love this coffee shop and looked forward to going there when I was in the area. I’m very disappointed in how long they keep their bags of coffee beans on the shelf. I’ve purchased fresh coffee beans in the past and loved them. Their coffee is amazing. I had my daughter pick me up a bag yesterday. I couldn’t believe the beans were 2 weeks old according to the date stamped. I called, thinking this was a mistake and was told they keep them on the shelf for 3 weeks. I feel like that’s too long for fresh coffee beans and not happy about paying premium prices for the older beans.

Vincent has been roasting the best coffee in KC for years. I miss the bike shop days, but I suppose it’s good the coffee biz has scaled. This place is a gem. The Mexican Mocha is best in city.

Great coffee. Great chocolate. I love stopping in here for pour over coffee and a bag of freshly roasted beans. In a fun location in old Lenexa. Friendly staff and owner. Can't wait for the cafe to open in the future..

Their coffee beans are so good and fresh. But the latte that they make wasn’t that good the milk was burnt and I couldn’t feel the coffee flavor. Won’t take coffee drinks from them. But the beans are a must?
