The flavors of the food-chipotle chicken to be specific- that take me back to grandma and mom’s cooking. Delicious! A must try!

Excellent burrito but very expensive. $15 for 1 burrito and an extra cup of salsa costs extra. Not a huge burrito.

Hands down the most authentic Mexican food I’ve had outside of Mexico. Every dish tastes homemade and full of flavor---from the perfectly seasoned tacos to the fresh salsas. Warm service, generous portions, and real authenticity in every bite. A hidden gem worth coming back to again and again!

At Red Kitchen KC, I sought a burrito treat,
In Overland Park, where flavors should meet.
The taste was bold, a zesty delight,
But the price for scant meat gave my wallet a fright!

Three ounces, they claimed, but it felt like a ruse,
Potatoes took charge, left my taste buds confused.
For a meaty feast, I’d hoped to be wowed,
But spuds ruled the roll, and my hunger’s unbowed!

Red Kitchen KC – Downtown Overland Park

Right by the farmers market, tucked into a row of restaurants. After a hot yoga session on a cool but sunny Saturday, this was my brunch stop.

What I ordered:

Breakfast Burrito (6”) – I chose chorizo, but could barely make it out in the filling. The tortilla was grilled perfectly crisp, and the salsa inside was a smart move with the scrambled eggs and potatoes. Flavor was solid, but it’s small and not very filling. I’ll try the 10” next time, but the $12–$15 price point gives me pause. Would also love an extra salsa cup (75¢ upcharge).

Huevos Divorciados – Two fried eggs on corn tortillas with refried beans, split by tangy red and green salsas—perfect for those of us who can’t choose. Finished with queso fresco, cilantro, and onion. The crusty bolillo bread was outstanding, but at $17, one slice felt skimpy. Two pieces (one for each egg and sauce) would have been more appropriate.

Coffee: Mexican fair trade from Maps Roasters—solid, but not memorable. The only item that felt priced fairly.

The vibe: Ordering is through kiosks, but staff were kind and helpful. Inside seating is limited but cozy, with a few sunny patio spots if you can handle the glare.

The only knock: Prices are high for the portions. Food is excellent (5/5 for taste), but overall it’s a 4/5 because value is the sticking point.
