Wishing we read more of the reviews before coming here. Our experience was very similar to all of the other poor reviews. Tasteless rolls with no flavor or sauces as described on the menu. Two of our rolls that included spicy crab was only dry, shredded, tasteless crab. The Kani salad was also tasteless and only had a couple pieces of cucumber. Service was terrible. Our waitress was short with us and inattentive. She did not get our order correct and forgot to bring us our side of fried rice. We had to wait an unreasonable amount of time to get anyone to come check on us while waiting for a box. We were the only customers in there at this point. The ambiance and decor was nice here. It'd be a great place if food and service were good.

The sushi itself was delicious, as was the crab Rangoon. However, the hibachi dishes were mediocre, at best. The shrimp tasted boiled and the rice was bland. The shrimp still has the full shells on, making it difficult and messy to eat. The waitress we had seemed less than interested. Not recommended to visit in person. If you want sushi to-go, I would recommend that option.

The food was mediocre, but the place looks amazing. The waitress was ok, but it seemed like she needed help.Took a lot longer to get my drink and order taken than I expected.Parking: There were at least 2 dozen spots that could be used for this store.

We had not realized that on-site dining was once again available (apparently since January) so it was wonderful to come in for lunch today and see Joy! The new decorations and booths add a nice touch and the food was wonderful. We will be back soon.Dietary restrictions: My wife has gluten, pork, almonds, chocolate and mango allergies and they always take such great care of us we never worry.Kid-friendliness: The best. Our "burger girl" is now 15 and had her first sushi experience here some 8 plus years ago and can even make sushi at home...not as pretty as theirs but tasty none the less.

Ordered delivery. Delivery driver dropped off the food at 8:07. Did not bother to nock let alone ring the doorbell. (Uber driver not associated with the business) I did not find out there was anything sitting on my front door until over an hour later and only because a neighbor stopped by. Called Niji to see what could be done and if the food was safe to eat as it was 15 minutes from closing and 95° outside. They asked if I could come back up to the store they would just remake it because it is not safe to eat. I had just finished putting my son to bed and couldn't leave. One of the staff delivered it herself after the chef remade it for me. The food is phenomenal and the service is the best. I am so grateful and will be frequenting this establishment a LOT more often!

Used to be good for carryout but now apparently the "special instructions" part of the online order is purely decorative, plus the rolls were loosely wrapped. May try going in person next time to see if the results are different because we really used to love this place.

Pros: The price was very reasonable compared to other Japanese restaurants in the area. My wife placed an online order, so we didn't eat there, but the restaurant looked pretty nice inside.Cons: they were somewhat busy and appeared understaffed. Maybe the food quality is better when they are less busy, but unfortunately, our experience tonight was extremely disappointing. My wife ordered sushi and barely touched 2 out of the 3 rolls. She said the Philadelphia roll was decent, but the other two (spider/California roll) were not very good. I had their chicken hibachi meal, which was edible, but nothing that I would want to try again. I feel like that was cooked much earlier than the sushi, so it sat around getting cold/mushy while you waited to make the sushi for our order...likely because you had multiple customers inside also ordering sushi and again, seemed understaffed. They messed up and put yum yum sauce in my salad, so I ended up mixing that in versus the yellow dressing they had in the bag. My wife ordered the avocado salad and it was missing the cucumbers/carrots. The "clear soup" was brown...very different than any others I have had in the past. I also made the mistake of ordering the crab rangoons, which definitely were not cooked long enough and were still very hard (versus crispy). The fried rice was pretty good, but underseasoned.I see in other reviews that we could have come back and got a refund. But after waiting so long to get the food (took around 50 min...which I understand you all take longer to prepare food and that is totally fine), but after waiting that long I dont expect to have multiple issues with my food. After waiting, driving home, trying everything...I honestly don't feel like waiting another hour to get all the food re-made in hopes of it tasting better. I really wanted to like this place because it's relatively close to our house. But you guys missed the mark on basically everything tonight.I'm giving 2 stars because my chicken hibachi meal was edible, but again, nothing that made me want to come back again. I truly hate leaving negative reviews, but I also feel that I needed to give honest feedback based on our experience tonight.Edit - Thanks for the response. I understand running a business is hard. I also understand being busy and things taking longer. It just doesn't make up for the $55 we spent on a disappointing meal. It's Friday, it has been a long week and I was looking forward to some good food! I would have rather waited longer if that meant you had the time to properly make our order. I see other people like your food and had good experiences, but it is gonna be hard for me to ever want to come back and give you another chance. Again, not trying to be negative, but also want to be honest. I hope things get better for you all!

This place is literally one the best kept secrets in Olathe. I always get the Lunch Hibachi Steak and it comes with so much food for such a good price (under $10 before tax). Food is always prepared fresh and made to order and their fried rice is made exactly how I like! Give this small business a try and I guarantee you will not be disappointed.

Got this as takeout. The Gyoza did not come with any sauce. The shrimp tempura had sauce, however, the container holding the sauce did not have a secure lid holding the sauce in the container. Very little care seemed to go in to the preservation of pur food.

It was our first time ordering from NIJI's. Food was great! We had Natobi and Yammy rolls and Hibachi dinners. Difanatelly be getting food from them again!
