The Spiced Brown Sugar Latte was excellent, perfectly balanced, flavorful, and comforting. You can really tell the quality and care put into it. Great job!

Wow! I didn’t even know it was here, and now I’m upset I didn’t go sooner. The best coffee you can get in Overland Park, easily. If you like good, handcrafted coffee made with love and care, this is the place!!

Excellent latte. It was very busy when we went but managed to find a table. They do not have sugar-free syrups, fyi.
☕ Bear Necessities Coffee Review -- Twice a year, while my wife is at her nearby appointment, I make a beeline for Bear Necessities (we don't live close by). It’s become my ritual: a smooth, rich Americano paired with a pastry that never disappoints.
The vibe here is exactly what you want in a coffee spot—relaxed, welcoming, and friendly. Inside, there’s plenty of seating for settling in with a book or laptop. Step outside, though, and you’ll find the real gem: a spacious, fenced-in patio that shines in crisp fall weather.
And here’s the twist—Bear Necessities isn’t just about coffee. They also serve beer and other drinks, making it a perfect spot to unwind no matter the time of day.
If you’re anywhere near the area, don’t miss it. Bear Necessities is the kind of place you’ll look forward to returning to, whether it’s part of your routine or a happy discovery.

The hot chocolate and tea were great! I got a vegetarian burrito and, though I could tell it was healthy, it was veerrryyy underseasoned. I had to get salt and pepper packets from my car and that made it 1000x better. I couldn't finish the other half when I ran out of the packets. Even just a bit more salt would go a loooong way. Service was pretty okay! Glad they have vegetarian options, but that's my only feedback is season the burrito a bit more. Maybe I just got one that happened to be unseasoned 🤷♀️

Cute 🐻s and yummy drinks. Best coffee spot next to the Central Resource Library in Overland Park! Try the Pumpkin Caramel! They make all the syrup in house!
Edit:
Due to the business’s very thoughtful response and our conversation in person, I am putting this back to a 5 but keeping the past comments to show others. I feel this is a great demonstration of why this is my favorite coffee shop.
I’ve debated for a long time on writing a review that is not as positive as I feel this place should deserve, but I do feel I need to say something.
I am a very frequent customer. I normally get an iced latte that is usually smooth and creamy. When it’s good, it’s one of the best coffee experiences I have ever had. They even don’t charge extra for milk alternatives!
However, there is one employee who makes the coffee exceptionally bitter every time. It has gotten to the point where when I see they are working there, I get a pastry or leave. They are very nice and funny, but her pleasantries are not worth wasting my money on something that is too bitter to drink — which out of hope and desperation I have had to do many times. I had hoped that the coffee would improve over time, but it has not. It is really unfortunate because this is genuinely my favorite coffee shop.

We loved this coffee shop! The atmosphere is inviting, cozy, and quiet. It is a perfect place to work, study, or chat with a friend. The barista was friendly, and seemed very knowledgeable. We tried one of their house made syrups for the fall season: toasted pecan. I highly recommend! I would love to come back and try some of their other flavors and their pastries!

Very nice coffee shop! Chill atmosphere with pretty emo ballad vibes. It had a large front patio that would be perfect to hang out on with the upcoming fall cool down. Also, the coffee was not overly sweetened (which is my personal preference) with good homemade syrup options. Also, we very friendly staff.

This couple has such a kind heart. They helped me out when I needed it most yesterday. Just to help out a complete stranger in distress with her crying toddler and baby. They deserve all the stars
