This is limited to just Sunday dim sum. They shouldnât call it dim sum. Anyone expecting traditional dim sum will laugh at the huge portion sizes. The soup dumplings had no soup and came in a foil âpot pieâ in which the dumpling was glued Horrible. Other options seemed previously deep fried and reheated. Crispy duck was served with a Cracker Barrel like turkey gravey. Such a joke. I havenât found a true dim sum experience in KC so I wouldnât bother. Also total bill for two came to $90 for 4 items. Was ripped off on a couple of items that wouldâve served 5. Ugh. I was most disappointed in the lack of transparency over cost and serving size but I should be outraged at chewy hard soup dumplings without an ounce of liquid.
Stay far away from the atrocity they call dim sum

The service was slow, even though we ordered dim sun, food was slow to come out. we had to return one dish as meat was tough. waitress was elusive, took us 3 attempts to get 3 cokes and then she said you ordered 3? I have eaten here before and had better experience.

We think the restaurant at 91st and metcalf is the best. Really good tasting dishes. Very nice portions. We really enjoy the fried rice and sweet and sour chicken.

Iâve been going to this Bo Lings location for over 30 years. The staff is awesome and the food is always delicious. I especially like the general manager, Fong. Sheâs very welcoming, professional, and over the years has become a friend. I get takeout from Fong at least once per week. If you havenât visited this location, please add it to your to-do list.

Had the craziest takeout experience ever at this location tonight. I ordered online for a 6 pm pickup and waited in line for 2 hours to pick up my food. I had my food in hand at 8 pm.
At some point while waiting in line, I noticed that the restaurant turned off the online ordering option for this location but that didnât stop people from continuing to order takeout via Uber Eats, Door Dash, GrubHub, etc.
The customer service was nothing short of awful. I know itâs Christmas Eve and there arenât that many options for dine in and takeout tonight, but Bo Lings was sorely unprepared to handle this volume of customers.

Ordered takeout online. Went for curbside pickup a little after the time the food was estimated to be ready. Called to let them know we were at the curbside pickup spot and they said our food wasnât ready yet, but theyâd bring it out when it was done. Called again after half an hour of waiting and they said they donât have anyone to bring the food out and to go pick it up inside. Stood in the pickup line for another half hour before I was able to flag an employee down who said they just dropped my food off at the car đ never had service problems like this at the old Plaza location

I didnât walk into this place expecting perfection. I came in expecting something dependable â the kind of restaurant where the price suggests you can slow down, sit comfortably, and trust the experience.
That expectation didnât last long.
At first, everything felt ordinary in a neutral way. We were seated, looked over the menu, placed our order. Then time started stretching in that familiar but uncomfortable manner â the kind where youâre unsure whether the kitchen is overwhelmed or whether youâve simply slipped off the radar. There was no explanation, no check-in, just waiting.
When the food arrived, the disappointment was quiet but noticeable. Not because the dishes were terrible â they werenât â but because they felt unfinished in spirit. Flavors were muted, lacking depth. Dishes that should justify their price through balance and care tasted more like routine output than thoughtful cooking. At this price level, âacceptableâ simply isnât enough.
As the meal went on, the gap became clearer. The menu and pricing position this as a place offering a sit-down experience above everyday takeout. But the food itself didnât rise to that promise. What arrived on the table felt closer to convenience than intention, closer to habit than craftsmanship.
Even the surroundings subtly reinforced that feeling. Worn table surfaces, small signs of neglect â nothing dramatic, but enough to break the illusion that detail and care still matter here.
By the time the check arrived, the frustration wasnât about any single mistake. It was about value. When a restaurant asks you to pay at this tier, it also asks you to trust that the experience will meet it. In this case, the price created expectations the food and service couldnât consistently support.
I didnât leave angry. I left with the quieter kind of disappointment â the kind that comes from wanting a place to be worth it, and slowly realizing it isnât, at least not anymore.
There are too many restaurants today offering better balance between price, quality, and attention for this experience to feel reasonable. I wonât say Iâd never return, but I would hesitate. And that hesitation says more than any complaint ever could.

One of the waitresses was exceptional the other didn't know what she was doing. The tickets were all messed up. We were overcharged. They're expensive and not worth the price
