Kyoto nails a vibe that’s honest. Hibachi tables tucked just out of sight — smart move, so they don’t steal the show. Our party of six was seated fast, and as we passed the massive sushi bar, it hit me — this place has serious chops. The sushi here is straight-up edible art, and the TVs were blasting Father of the Bride. Yeah, I’m serious. Classic.
Service was razor-sharp. No waiting, no fuss. Our chef? A damn showman and a pro. When the fire flared up, and my kid got wide-eyed, he didn’t just keep cooking — he leaned in, warned about the next “volcano,” and broke the tension with a ridiculous toy that “pees” on the flames. That kind of connection? Rare.
The food was tight. Seasoned perfectly, matching the percussion of spatulas clanging like a drumline. Everyone got their shrimp catch — no matter how many tries it took — and the steak was cooked to an impeccable medium rare. The salmon was a bit overdone and tough, but the teriyaki hit the right notes and looked gorgeous.
This place is damn close to perfect. I’m coming back. Four stars because perfection is overrated — but Kyoto makes you want to chase

Amazing food. The drinks were on point. I don’t really care for the whole hibachi experience, but this one was actually amazing and very entertaining. Definitely will be coming back I also felt like I didn’t spend that much money. Two Alcoholic drinks. Two appetizers. Two entrées. And we did the entrées that Included three proteins. Less than $130

Kyoto Sushi & Steak is one of our favorite restaurants in the Kansas City area. Everything we have eaten here has been absolutely wonderful. I would recommend the tuna sashimi and the hibachi steak and salmon.

What used to be our favorite place has gone to crap. Worst service we have had there. Had to beg for drinks, when we finished eating we had to beg for boxes. The waitress boxed our food and threw the bill and bag on the table and left. Her name tag said Judy. This was our anniversary and the lack of service really ruined the experience. The manager just apologized and walked away. Bar tender was amazing though.

Roll and nigiri came had warm rice... .. not once in my life I had nigiri or roll that had warm rice.... wasn't even that tasty. Plus. Nigiri wasn't even that fresh. I don't understand how this place was so packed.

The sushi is always so fresh and the service is immaculate. The atmosphere is welcoming and fun. They have happy hour up until 6PM on weekdays and we arrived 5 min before not knowing that and they still handed us the happy hour menu. We got there on a Tuesday night and it was busy but they were able to get a table for two seated right away. I would recommend anybody who loves sushi or Japanese food to come here. I’ve also heard their hibachi is super fun and delicious ᵕ̈

Tried calling to ask if we could come in and eat without reservation, was rude about it, and didn’t speak very good English which makes hard for communication. If your going to be giving a service than communication is key. Don’t go here if you don’t like rude comments, bc I personally don’t put up with it.

Sushi was great... They really need to do some repairs and update the inside of the building. I saw places that were very dirty and broken tiles. At least clean the carpet and update where it is torn. How a place looks really can matter! Your food is really good ... Please consider updating interior of building to match the quality of food.
