In town for just a night and went to J. Alexander's for dinner. So glad I did! Best steak I have ever had, cooked perfectly. Sides were delicious as well and all the servers and chefs were awesome. Molly was the best server. Thank you for such an amazing feast.

I visited this place on Saturday and we waited our food very long to arrive on the table. Workers were nice. We ordered Long Island Ice tea and it was pure alcohol, no taste of anything else. Very dissatisfied. How come expensive place can’t make this basic drink. The food was ok nothing ordinary especially it says on the menu that “Not your regular Mack n cheese”. It had some kind of strong flavor that I don’t like. So we didn’t finish it. Sorry it was not ordinary Mac n cheese at all.

This place is amazing. The atmosphere was so relaxing. Loved our waitress she was just so nice and explained everything on the menu. The food was delicious and fast. We came here for my 6 year work anniversary and everything was perfect.

We eat here a lot. A LOT. Between dining in and curbside pickup, we have easily had hundreds of meals from this restaurant over the years, so this review comes with plenty of experience behind it.

Overall, service has been good. The curbside team deserves credit because they are always friendly and quick when bringing the food to our car. Inside the restaurant, we have also had solid service and I have even brought clients here for meals.

Where things get mixed is the food itself, especially over the past six months. My wife always orders baked potatoes, usually two so she has one for the next day. About seventy percent of the time they are good, but the other thirty percent has been a letdown. We have had overbaked potatoes, some with rotten pieces, and some that were way too small for the price. It has happened more than once, which makes it frustrating.

The queso is another example. A few times the container has been half empty instead of full, which feels careless. To be clear, we do not call in and complain unless something is actually missing from the order or several things are wrong. We order here too often to nitpick every small slip, but over the course of so many meals the pattern is worth noting.

Even with those issues, we still eat here regularly and I still recommend the restaurant. It is a reliable spot most of the time, but because of the inconsistency I would rate it closer to three and a half to four stars rather than five.

Maybe I got the wrong thing, but the KC strip was a bit chewy, and the loaded baked potato wasn’t fully cooked. The Mac and cheese was good. The standout of the meal was the Hong Kong shrimp, which was really good, but I don’t come to a steakhouse for shrimp.

The peanut butter pie lacks structure and tasted a bit like butter, and not in a good way.

The service was excellent. I don’t think my water was empty a single time during the meal, and the waiter was all around great. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough to justify a $150 tab for a meal that was just “okay”.

Fantastic prime rib! This Kansas City favorite has an extensive menu with lots of great beef options. My prime rib was excellent and cooked perfectly. Very cool decor as well with dark lighting making it ideal for a date or business dinner. The service was lacking. Our waiter didn't take our main course order or our menus till after we were served drinks and appetisers which I found odd. Especially because we had to awkwardly move our menus around to accommodate dishes. Our waiter was very aloof when I pointed this out to him, I think was perhaps just an off night but took a star for our experience.
