TACO NACO KC - Overland Park

The atmosphere was great, and we really enjoyed our time there. Our food came out quickly, though the nacho cheese cooled off pretty fast. The tacos and quesadillas were generous in portion and tasted great overall.

The fish taco is ok, but I wouldn't bother with it if I were you. Burrito was very meat and cheese heavy, like a keto hamburger without veggies. I asked for a jalapeno in mine, and if it was there I couldn't tell.

I really enjoyed the hot sauces though. First off they're not hot at all, that part is a braisen lie, but the tomatillo green sauce and roasted tomato sauce were excellent. I think they're heat index is based on people who think a little black pepper is too spicy rather than people who would willingly eat whole jalapenos.

Update: We went back Oct 2025. Food is fresher and everything was really good! Salsas are awesome and tacos were flavorful and cooked well. Still think the prices are high for what it is. Lots of good street tacos in KC. Paid more for kids food than adults.

Nachos were good, as are the pork and steak meats. We did not try the chicken or potatoes or mole. The price is too high for the tacos in my opinion for the stale tortillas we received. They weren’t fresh and chewy like recently warmed tortillas should be but hard and stale for a soft tortilla. The chips were stale as well. We went for dinner so maybe they are better at lunch but stale tortillas at a taqueria days a lot and not in a great way.

However, the churros were the best we’ve had in KC and are fried, not microwaved like most places in the city. The sauces that accompany them and the sprinkle of sugar both compliment well and will for sure be on our check the next time.

Not bad for a soft open but definitely room to grow. Great balance of meat and extras, great pickled veggies and right balance of cilantro without too many onions. Not too spicy but could use a little more flavor in the meats. Would also like to see other traditional options like nopales or chicharones or agua fresca in the shop/menu.

Definitely a great addition to this part of town and not much competition for comparable fare. Love the decor and feel of the restaurant although we didn’t stay long and got carry out. We will be back.

This was hands down one of the best meals we’ve had in KC. The meat was perfectly cooked, they have amazing salsa from red salsa to salsa verde with mild and medium options. They have amazing other sauces as well. They use the best tortillas ( Yoli ). Everything was exceptional. Oh and their chips are AMAZING.

Al Pastor taco absolutely slaps !! Solid tacos but overall a bit too pricey for me considering the quantity of food. I would be open to trying more on the menu, but for now, 4 stars!

Was going to place an order here tonight for my family until I noticed you increased the price of chips and queso from $3.75 to $9.50. That is not just inflation, it's a major markup, and it feels exploitative. Thats more than a 150% markup from 2021. You have taken advantage of inflation and used it as an excuse to jack up prices far beyond reason. You're not just covering costs anymore, this is about profit padding! We will never eat here again.

One of the best places I've had to eat in a while. Will be coming back regularly. Their fish tacos and al pastor are absolutely amazing. Literally better than 99.9% of KC restaurants.

This place has been recommended a few times by people who enjoy Mexican food. This was my first time visiting Taco Naco KC during lunch hour.

For the positives:

*Great tiendita vibes as you walk-in the restaurant, the place is very inviting
*Service was great and quick during lunch hour.

Unfortunately there’s some negatives, and it’s all about the food:

*Tortillas felt cold even though the service was fast. I’d didn’t feel like the tortillas or the meat in the pastor and carne asada touched the plancha
*Flavor was not great on the asada and pastor tacos, perhaps due to the temperature of the food. As a taco lover, temperature dictates a lot of the food flavor, it’s like eating menudo cold, it just doesn’t taste good.
*I tried 3 different salsas and honestly, they didn’t bring any flavor along with them. The hot salsa was mild at best.
*Lastly, for the price there’s much better options around. Paying $30 for an order (5) of tacos and a drink is kinda steep, especially if the food doesn’t live up to the price.

I hope I don’t sound like a hater, I really wanted to love this place since the more taco options the better, in my opinion, however I doubt I’ll pay another visit soon.

Just a bowl and it was 25$. I feel JUST ate a light starter after keto bowl. Now I am in Greek restaurant ordering sth else. It is expensive for Mexican food.

Fun little spot with such good authentic Mexican food & drink options. All of the tostados & tacos were delicious! Cannot wait to go back and try more!
