Came in to try something that sounded a tad different and was pleasantly surprised. Owner Dave led me to the Chorizo rojo with egg and cheese, and it was great. A very nice blend of flavor bombs . I had to try another dog that was one of the specials. It was good, but not to the extent of the Chorizo item. He took the time to thoroughly explain several other menu items, which I'll gladly try next time.
They have a terrific selection of sausages and other ancillary things which give the place depth, such as wagyu dog treats, which I couldn't pass up for the mutts.
Weiner Kitchen is a fun place that is run by classically trained pros who wanted to step out of the ordinary and create a niche.
They've done an awesome job.
Only hitch is the seating. They simply don't seem to have enough to accommodate everyone during peak times, so come early and grab one. Support your locals !

The sausage was excellent and big portions. The manager took the time to explain the choices since it was our first time there.

We ended up at Weiner Kitchen completely by accident — the kind of post-event adventure you can’t plan, only stumble into. After the McDonald’s Rave (yes… the invite-only McDonald’s rave), Kat, Luke the wizard-level photographer, and I realized the last thing any of us wanted was actual McDonald’s. As we’re wandering out into the night, neon lights still buzzing in our heads, we spot a baseball card shop, a hip-hop store, an armory… and right in the middle of it all: Weiner Kitchen. The name alone was enough to make us stop.

We walked in with that “this could go either way” energy — because let’s be honest, a spot wedged between sports nostalgia, rap tees, and ammo has no business being this good. But the second the smell hit us, all skepticism evaporated. This place wasn’t just a funny name. There was real craft happening behind that counter.

Let me get right to it: the Chicken Apple Sausage is legitimately one of the best things I’ve eaten in Kansas City — and I don’t say that lightly. It’s the kind of sausage you take one bite of, stop mid-sentence, and stare at your friends like, are you tasting this too? Perfect snap, insanely good flavor, and cooked with that confidence that only comes from someone who knows their sausage game is elite.

But the toppings — man, the toppings take it from “wow” to “I’m coming back tomorrow.” The strawberry jam hits first with this sweet pop that doesn’t overpower, the basil aioli brings freshness and depth like some kind of gourmet plot twist, and the toasted pecans give it crunch and nuttiness that tie the whole thing together. It’s wild, unexpected, and absolutely perfect. This isn’t a novelty sausage shop — it’s legitimately creative food.

We sat there passing bites around like a tasting ceremony. Kat kept doing that head-tilt “oh my god” reaction. Luke was trying to photograph the sausage like it was the cover of a cookbook. I was just sitting there laughing because this tiny spot next to an armory had just smacked us with the best sausage in KC.

By the time we were done, I wasn’t just full — I was a fan. So obviously I bought a shirt to commemorate the moment. A perfect Metallica parody tee that reads: “…And Sausage for All!” If you know me at all, you know that’s coming out at every cookout, festival, and casual Tuesday going forward.

So here’s the official verdict: Weiner Kitchen isn’t just good — it’s destination-level. If you’re in Kansas City and you don’t go, you’re making a mistake. If you do go, get the Chicken Apple Sausage exactly as it comes. Trust the strawberry jam. Trust the basil aioli. Trust the pecans. Trust Weiner Kitchen. They deserve the hype they don’t even know they have yet.

Once upon a lunchtime, in a cozy corner of the city, there existed a magical little place called Weiner Kitchen — a kingdom ruled not by knights or dragons, but by sausages. The moment you crossed the threshold, the door chimed a cheerful greeting as if to say, “Welcome, weary traveler! Come in and feast!” Inside, the air smelled like happiness and sizzling hopes on a flat-top grill. Friendly villagers (also known as the staff) waved you in with smiles so warm they could melt butter — and likely had, for culinary purposes.

This wasn’t just any food hall. No, Weiner Kitchen was a sanctuary of comfort, community, and the noble pursuit of crafting exceptional links of joy. Behind the counter, skilled sausage-smiths worked tirelessly, transforming local ingredients into flavorful masterpieces. Among them — wrapped in legend and placed upon a fluffy bun like a royal cushion — was the hero of our story: the Chicken Apple Sausage.

Whispers about this sausage echoed through the realm. They said it was tender. They said it was juicy. Some even claimed it held the perfect balance between savory chicken and sweet apple enchantment. With the curiosity of a questing adventurer, you ordered one, unsure if any bite could be as perfect as rumored.

But oh.

Your first taste was like a tiny parade marching across your tongue. The sweetness of the apples waltzed with the savory chicken, while char-grilled edges sang backup harmonies of smokiness. If happiness had a flavor, it would be exactly this — humble yet extraordinary, familiar yet surprising. You could almost hear the sausage whisper, “Told you so.”

My daughter and I ate here and we will be back. She had a bacon sausage and I had a special. Both really good. The sausage gravy on hers was obviously made from scratch and was awesome. Get some cookies for dessert. We got a banana cream cookie and a s'mores cookie and both were great. Highly recommend!

Horrible, very sad, tried one bite of 2 different style hotdogs and some soup and everything was bland and extremely boring. Seems like whoever came up with this concept cared more about branding than taste.

Not your average weiner! I had the chorizo Rojo with some chili. This was so delicious and reasonably priced. Highly recommend checking this out!

So good! We will definitely be list back! I had the greens, eggs and hen and my husband had the sausage gravy over the sausage bacon. Everything was delicious including The coffee. We brought home Sheboygan brats, sausage, stuffed jalapenos and bratwurst patties for dinner. They were also most excellent! Great local restaurant to support!

Unique, delicious creations that you can eat there (which I strongly recommend) &/or take home to grill yourself. Plus you get to support a local business who also supports other local businesses. And for those with Celiac, we have never had any cross contamination over the many times we have eaten there. This is one of those few places that I love enough to proudly wear one of their shirts, although their shirts are pretty epic so that certainly helps.

I'm so glad I found a great Hot Dog place! It doesn't hurt they serve other stuff too, even breakfast. And even better they have a deli counter where you can get sausages and steaks etc to bring home and cook yourself. The staff was awesome, the vibe was nice and it'll definitely be a spot I'll hit up often.
