Tavern in the Village

There were houseflies buzzing around our table, landing on plates, glasses, and food. Very unpleasant, so we left. The manager was apologetic and didn't charge us.

It is always good. Did not disappoint. It has become one of my go to places. Can eat alone with no problems or reduction in service. Very comfortable.

Tavern in the Village is a favorite of mine. The menu offers something for everyone. I always get the same thing - Tavern Salad with a piece of salmon - but my companions always seem to enjoy their various choices as well. It's a little loud but that just means people are enjoying the convivial setting. (I always ask for a quieter booth, if available.) We also order carryout regularly. Sadly there have been some mistakes, but overall we are pleased with that, too.

The whipped feta and watermelon dish is wonderful. We ordered filet mignon and the trout both were delicious. The noise level was off the charts but once the family with many children left it calmed down to a nice ambience. The wait staff were very good and attentive. I have a gluten allergy and everything is marked well on the menu and they brought toasted gluten free bread with the whipped feta dish. That was a very nice treat to have with the dish.

The summer menu options were all impressive - difficult to choose just one. The white gazpacho was innovative and delicious!

I have not been to this restaurant for about a year or so and am now wondering if it's because my expectations are never quite met. I guess it's fine and I thought the menu had improved over the years, but last night's food experience was just odd. Ordered the grilled salmon and kale salad. I did not know it was possible to pile that much kale on a plate. Salmon was fine, but could barely find the few slivers of beets or walnuts and could barely taste any dressing. More is not better for me, but maybe patrons complain about portion size? It was so off-putting and just a terrible presentation of food. Guess I sound fussy. And I am. I will probably go back to the Tavern, but it most likely won't be for another year or two. BTW, service was excellent!

Grace awesome. Someone who delivers food a nice young women heard my husband bemoan the fact he didn't get a roll- no salad for him. She brought HIM two fresh from the oven!! NICE

I had requested a booth in my reservation, and although there was a small booth available, the hostess told me that a large booth wouldn't be available for "quite some time." When I asked her how long that was, she said at least fifteen to twenty minutes. At this veery moment, the party seated at one of the large booths got up and left. I asked her if we could have their booth and she said that it would take quite some time to turn it over. Really? I told her I was willing to wait the "quite some time" for that booth to turn over while at the bar. She seated us in said booth after just a few minutes. This whole thing felt odd to me, and I was displeased. On the flip side, our server, Samantha, was a complete delight, and our food, cocktails, and wine were excellent and delicious.

The food here is consistently good! It's one of our favorite restaurants. Service is always good, too. Ask for Scott; he'll take good care of you!

Service was extremely slow at noon in a Thursday. Did nothing t get water for 15 mins. Did was fine, took a while to get but tasted good, nothing special.

The food was delicious. The only downside was the sewage smell that hits us a soon as we walked in. We eventually got used to it but it took awhile.

We started with a caprese appetizer. I had the grilled salmon, my wife had the lobster ravioli, and our daughter had the cheese ravioli. All of these dishes were excellent. We also ordered desserts, which included the 3 chocolate cake and the berry crumble with ice cream. These were not as outstanding but still quite good. I wanted to try the strawberry shortcake but they were out. Our waitress was nice and on top of everything when we needed it. We definitely look forward to returning.

The Tavern was highly recommended to us by friends. They were right. Our meals were hot, delicious, and generous. Grace was an outstanding server. We will return.

Reasonably priced and food and brunch cocktails were yummy! Our waiter was great and was good at reading out needs without bothering us. It's a fine line and not easy, but he did it well!

We had the salmon poached egg salad which was delicious and followed it with peach, blueberry cobbler and coffee. Everything was wonderful and the service was great. I do find the restaurant to be rather dark but nothing a few brighter lights and unshaded windows wouldn't cure.
