Stopped in at 10 a.m. while driving west on I-70. We were hoping for some lunch food as we'd been up for hours after an early start. We called ahead and they told us we could order anything from the menu at that time. When we arrived, they had a lunch bar already set up with Fried Chicken (primarily breasts), fried catfish, shrimp, mashed potatoes, and the salad bar. Everything was made in house - for example the potato salad, spaghetti salad (worth a try), etc. Service was prompt and friendly. Setting and decor were as expected for a small town restaurant. Overall, we were quite happy with our choice and pleasantly surprised.

This establishment is known for its Ribeye steaks. My husband & I split a 28oz. offering. The steak was delicious, but extremely fatty. Out of my half, I maybe had 4 oz of meat that was edible. The rest was a pile of charred fat. The loaded baked potato was overdone & very small. The salad bar was fresh & very good. The server was attentive & pleasant.

My husband and I were traveling from PA to AZ. We found lodging right across the street from this magnificent restaurant. It was the weekend before Valentine's Day, so they were packed. We sat at the bar. We had the best filet and lobster I have had anywhere, and we travel internationally and across the country. The owner, Meridy, is one of a kind! She makes you feel welcome like you have been coming there all your life. I can't say enough great things about the owner, staff, drinks and food! Definitely a jewel in the nile. Enjoyed it immensely!

Very good food and a wonderful server (Lauren). We had the buffet.they do shut the buffet down at 14:00 to get ready for the dinner buffet at 16:00. They were super nice and made sure we had all we wanted before tearing it down (they also asked other people as well). If you have coffee, you will have a carafe brought to you so you never run out. The buffet cost $12.95 and included the cost of tea or coffee. Items on the buffet were the normal chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, vegetables (fried okra when we were there). The day we stopped (today they also had taco fixings and vegetable soup.the salad bar had three different cold desserts on it and plenty of salad fixings. Also, pasta salad, bean salad, and a seafood salad. Best part for us was that they have big truck parking out back!

In my opinion I think they set the bar high on mouth watering hand cut beef steak. Passing through Kansas on a annual hunting trip I'm looking forward to having a steak as much as harvesting a trophy buck. Hometown hospitality y'all. As for the pampered haters just pass by and let the rest of us enjoy marking off one more thing from our bucket list. I personally call it the "Jesus Steak". Thank you Jesus for letting me live and enjoy another wonderful Kansas steak. A Personal thanks to our Kansas ranchers and Farmers that keep food on our tables. EAT BEEF!!

We should have listened to the bad reviews! This place has horrible service and food, an unpleasant experience all around. We were in Russel for a business trip and won’t be back to this restaurant if we return. This place is way overpriced for what they offer. If you are looking for somewhere to eat, try one of the other places in Russel, they can’t all be this bad or drive 2+ hours to get some place with standards. The servers that were there spent their time huddled around one table, not sure if they were family or what. This table had ordered what we had, and the servers offered them a special dessert and bragged to them that "It was not even out of the buffet". When we asked if there was any dessert we were told "It's whatever is on the buffet", there was no dessert available. The salad they offered was discolored, the hot items seemed like they had been out for hours as there was obvious crust around the serving pan. When they brought out fresher items, they just poured them on top of the old stuff. This is also the first time I have seen a restaurant serve “chicken fried” catfish, still trying to wrap my head around that. A flavorless piece of fish fried in their chicken coating; I hope they at least used a fresh batch of dredge that wasn’t used for poultry. Was offered none of what the menu says come with an entrée and honestly, I am glad of that, was barely able to keep down what I did eat which was not much. The health department needs to visit here.

Horrible worst service and food. Took 10 minutes to be seated 3 waitresses and 2 tables. Ordered hot turkey with mashed and gravy. Got regular turkey sandwich with mashed and gravy. So I ordered a burger instead. Still only 3 waitresses and 4 tables now. 40 minutes for burger no bacon like I ordered and half the fries were burnt. Worst meal for $23. Never be back and can never recommend

I love these small town diners, they offer an enjoyable atmosphere. The staff was young, friendly and good at their job. The food was OK and for the most part reasonably priced. However, the steaks are outrageously priced. I've paid less at some of the higher end steak houses. That was very disappointing. The salad bar is very limited.

We were driving from MO to CO and was getting hungry and it was getting late. We walked into this restaurant just before closing but still warmly welcomed!I could not believe how good the food was!I had the Catfish Fillet and it was the biggest piece I ever had in a Restaurant! It was a thick piece fried to perfection!Crunchy outside, flaky on the inside! This little place was amazing! I’ll Be Back!

Pulled around 8 am and found a good breakfast waiting for us on a buffet bar. The scrambled eggs are Not the mix with water kind. They actually come from shell. Good hot coffee! Will definitely stop in again!

We stopped here because they have truck parking. They offer buffet and menu food. I opted for a steak because of my celiacs. warning, their steaks are huge but delicious and cooked to perfection. Price for 2 was a little pricey bit worth it! Give it a try; you won't be sorry. The fried chicken did look amazing, but unfortunately, I could not try due to having a severe gluten allergy. Our server Brandon was fantastic!!!

Very nice local restaurant. Heard their advertisement on the radio and decided to check it out while in Kansas Bird Hunting. Loved the buffet! Was nice to see a restaurant still doing buffets! Food was fresh and delicious!

I had heard great things about this place. My only regret was ordering an omelet for dinner. It took forever to get it. It had great flavor just took so long. Great place to eat buffet.

After hours of driving, we were tired and hungry. We found this little hole in the wall in Russell, Kansas, off Interstate 70. Checked the ratings and they were positive, so we gave it a try. We were not disappointed. Friendly, attentive staff. Great food.
