Lutfi's Fried Fish

If I could give it to zero Stars I would.... I have tried this place three times.. every time they tell me they are out of bread and each time the portions have been smaller and the place is not cheap save yourself the aggravation and frustration stay away from this place

Here's the thing. Food is always amazing, when they have it. 8/10 times they will be out of multiple sides at this location. When they're out it's not listed. I recommend calling in first and asking what all they have and exactly how much first. The 8/10 stat is being exact, and not exaggerated. I was just here 1/14/2023: out of macaroni, greens, and spaghetti for example.

Such AMAZING food. Fried catfish is delicious with such a great and tangy hot sauce. Mac and cheese with an interesting flair and perfectly crispy hushpuppies.Carrot cake was divine.

Huge portions !!! Fried catfish was sooooo good!!! Service was good and the young lady that took our order was very nice. So happy to have a local black owned business close to me to be able to support and enjoy. Take all my money lol. We will definitely be back for more !!

I went to the restaurant with my Aunt. That fish and that food was very delicious. I enjoyed everything. The atmosphere is very simple,but nice.I give it.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Catfish is the best in town and the greens are the perfect complement. Finish off with Golden Boy dessert and you will be full and happy!

Awesome, catfish made to order. The butter cake and catfish was to die for. I waited listening to one of my favorites Luther Vandross. It is just like when I was a boy after going to Hebrew school off Troost Ave. Getting fried catfish and cornbread! Shalom!

Came in for the second time today. Instead of being greeted, rude lady who I presume is the manager yelled, "AC AND POP MACHINE AINT WORKING". Proceeded to go ahead and order. Since the pop machine was down, bought a bottle of soda. Food was good, everything was fine, until I went back for more ketchup and another bottle of pop. I asked the cashier, "can I please get more ketchup and another Diet Coke". She proceeded to hand me the ketchups and a new bottle of soda. I thought, what a nice gesture not making me buy another one since the pop machine was down. BOY WAS I WRONG.Not 2 minutes later, this same rude manager came out and said, "Are you going to pay for that Diet Coke?" Um, I will if I have to I responded, but the girl at the counter gave it to me. "So you're stealing product?" LADY, your pop is behind the counter, I couldn't steal it if I tried.Just spent $40 bucks on food and TIPPED YOUR ungrateful self $7.Little tip, don't employee petty people who lose you customers over a $1 bottle of pop.

Great owner and employee base,, but even better was/is the service accompanied by fantastic catfish and coleslaw,, can’t wait to return and while away shout their name Lutfis to all !! Take home photo ??

I went here last week and I had a great experience! The food was very good and hot and fresh! The employees had excellent customer service and I definitely recommended all my family and friends to give it try!

I love it here. Food is always fire, fast service, and the owner is super nice. The Mac n cheese is my go to side and the fish is always fresh. I will always come back to Lutfis in Shawnee.

Very good place to eat if you like fish. Good customer service would highly recommend to all.Oh don't forget to get some of that luscious cake it delicious ?

I struggled to write this review because I feel like with a few changes this place would be amazing. I had such high hopes. The flavor of the fish was good...and that's it. It could've been soooo much better. The portion size was great, but the fish was thin strips and very chewy (as if I were chewing a piece of fishskin instead) Not like any catfish I've ever had before. I was also really excited to try the carrot cake, but I think they might put coconut (I hate coconut) in it because it was crunchier than a piece of shredded carrots would be.

First time trying this location, used to go to the OG by downtown KC. Unbelievable flavor in the red beans & rice. Superior to even Joe’s red beans & rice. That alone is worth 5 stars. Catfish is great. Very reasonably priced. Will definitely be back!
