Great little place in Shawnee. I had the hot and sour soup, spicy tuna roll and the black mask roll. Service was fast and efficient. Spicy tuna could have been spicier. Black mask had no heat. Everything was good and I will return, just a bit off on the execution tonight. Still a great night.

Trash, $90 for extremely small portions all fillers (ie cucumber) barely any fish or seafood in any roll. Do not waste your money

I went here on a random weeknight and everything was amazing. Food, service, and aesthetic were excellent. Definitely one of the best sushi places in the KC area!

Spent 26.95 for 6 pieces of shrimp and chewy steak. The fried rice was bland. The "salad" was lettuce and a cucumber... I'm not sure if they have a seperate chef doing to-go, but this was not worth the price at all. Will never order from here again.

Over expensive and under whelming. Can't speak on the sushi, but do not order the Hibachi entrees. Just got 2 Hibachi Chicken meals delivered. To have been $21 each, they were underwhelming at best. First of all, the portion size is very small- literally a cup or less of both rice and vegetables, not even making the little spots in my to-go tray all the way full. They were a little more generous on the chicken, but it was overcooked/rubbery, so I couldn't even eat it. Mind you, they gave us each 1 little white sauce cup to dip everything in with no option to order extra. Second of all, the food had absolutely no seasoning, like barely a speck of salt or oils/sauces to make it taste like hibachi at all. Like literally just cooked chicken and veggies with plain fried rice. I don't know if I just have a jaded idea of what Hibachi is, but this definitely ain't it.

I take my reviews seriously and do not give a low star rating unless it is genuinely deserved. Please see my other reviews of Sushi from all over the world. I'm not sure why my experience is so different from the high rating this restaurant enjoys.

Oishi Sushi was a very disappointing experience. The menu is typical and has a good variety of authentic sushi and sashimi, as well as hot fusion dishes to appeal to everyone. However, the special rolls were not only half the size of a typical roll at $13, but completely underwhelming in flavour and presentation. Two special rolls were jammed on a small plate together with no thought to presentation.

The salmon sashimi was passable, but a little soft and slippery and difficult to hold with chop sticks. Fresh, firm, and cool sashimi sticks to the chop sticks. My favourite sashimi, and the star of the meal was the roe.

The green tea was also adequate but did not have that signature texture of a great Japanese tea. We asked for extra wasabi, which we did not receive, and the wasabi was very crumbly, pasty, and dry. The waiter missed 2 orders of sashimi, and we reminded him when he approached us for last menu call, 1/2 hour before the listed closing time. He graciously brought the missing sashimi, with no additional wasabi on the plate. When we pointed that out, he went to the kitchen to request some wasabi, and the request was denied because the kitchen had closed. Wasabi. How much prep would that have required?

Besides lots of sashimi, we also ordered edamame, crab ragoon, green island roll, Oishi roll, and the dragon roll.

Needless to say, we will not be returning to this restaurant.

Always an excellent stop. Never dissatisfied. The Oishi roll is soo good! We always get one of those and try a couple of new rolls as well. We also went for a friend's birthday, and they were able to accommodate all of us without feeling like we were an imposition.
