I usually tip at places, even if I'm ordering at a counter like this, so it's not that I am anti-tipping. However, when I paid for my quiche the machine went straight to ask me how I would like my receipt and did not ask if I would like to tip. I thought at the time it was a little odd but didn't think too much of it. However, later after I left I looked at my receipt and was surprised to see a tip had been added on without my authorization. It wouldn't have been so bad if it was a standard 15% tip, but this was 30%! My order was only $4.20 so it's not like it was a lot of money, but it's the principal of being charged a 30% tip that I didn't authorize. On top of that, this was the saddest piece of quiche I've ever seen. It was so thin, less than a quarter of an inch thick. I get that eggs are expensive right now but I had to examine it to see if there were even eggs in it. I won't be back.

I was in working in Topeka from Kansas City today and craving quiche. They had a fabulous spinach quiche, I loved it! The Avocado toast, cherry lime aid and a no bake cookie were good too. The people working there were very warm and friendly. This cafe is cute! They had signs and art that said "All are welcome". Really excellent experience all the way around. Thanks!

Incredible service and kindness from the two people that helped us (we didn’t get their names but it was the daughter of the owners and a volunteer baker). We came in to grab some food for someone in the hospital and they were incredibly accommodating and helpful when we were in a daze looking for vegan options. Great coffee and menu variety, delicious treats, friendly staff, and a great, welcoming environment. I’m not in Topeka much but I’ll be recommending this place to my family that DOES live here, and I’ll certainly be back when I’m in town again.
And, genuinely, to the people who helped us this morning, thank you so much for your kindness. It meant so much to us.
