Wonderful French cuisine in a quiet lovely setting. Highly recommend. Esgargot fabulous. Sole excellent. Nice wine list
Our server, a young man, was very attentive and kind.
The food was delicious.
For the expensive prices, the interior needs updating and cleaned up.
The restroom floor was very sticky and needed cleaned.
Establishment needs attention to cleaning and freshening up detailing. Your prices are quite expensive for this city, the menu was limited ... the place should be clean and reflect those factors.
I had never been there to eat. It might be awhile before I go back, or recommend until they freshen up the physical building, i.e., internal anesthetics.

My family recently held a party here for 30 people and I could never adequately express how wonderful John was to work with from start to finish. John's communication and flexibility was next level and the staff on the night of our event was accommodating, showed real care, and were on point. If you have an upcoming small dinner party to plan, I highly recommend Chez Yasu!

My wife and I have been eating here for gong on 25 years. Last dinner was August 23, 2025 the food was excellent and service outstanding and friendly. The atmosphere is friendly like a small Paris cafe.

First time to eat here. Bagett was insanely good! Dover sole was good but very disappointed with the beef medallions, which should not have been served. They were full of gristle and a very low quality cut of meat. I simply couldn't believe a chef would have served that poor of quality. Mashed potatoes were good and good selection of wine. We would try it again but check for meat quality and send it back.

Great food and a nice atmosphere. You can carry on a conversation. We love it. Have been multiple times.
The menu has 10 entrees and they were out of two of them, including my first two choices, the Boeuf Bourguignon and the Filet de Canard Roti (duck). For me, the highlight of the meal was the escargots. I particularly loved the flavor of the mushrooms in the escargots with all the garlic. We also had Beef Medaillions and Aumon Poche, which were fine. if not treats. The entrees came with a house salad which was just lettuce and and a drizzle of rather tasteless dressing. We were baffled when the check came and we learned that they had charged us $4 each for refills of soft drinks. There was no warning on the menu or from the server and the drinks were filled to the top of the glass with ice so there was little soda in a serving.
The duck was absolutley delicious. Bread was amazing. The new apple tart dessert was the perfect dessert to top off a great first experience. We'll be back to try the filet.
Excellent food. Great service. Wonderful atmosphere.
Chez Yasu is our "go-to" restaurant for special occastions. The service is always impeccable. The atmosphere is pleasant. The food is always delicious. Wonderful appetizers, reasonably priced. Lunch specials of good value.

All I can is it was awesome food, awesome table service, attentive but not hovering, they atmosphere was great, we got to watch a thunderstorm while we were eating. A bit, pricey, but it's definitely worth every penny for the cost and tip for our server. We did dine in, did not have reservations but we just missed the rush and got seated immediately.

this was our first time. i took my friend as a birthday gift. she chose dinner in a french restaurant rather than a tangible gift. we both enjoyed our food so much. it is a pleasant place with a very nice waitress. the food was wonderful. my friend had a seafood stuffed crepe which she just loved. i had grilled duck breast which i just loved. before dinner we had a cup of the yellow squash soup. i had seen reviews of how good it was but doubted anyone could make good soup out of yellow squash. i was wrong. it was wonderful. we really didnt have room for dessert but we decided to share a cream brulee. it was also very good. if you go, go hungry. portions are generous. we hope to get another opportunity.
I love the filet served here, but since the exit of the original chef, the quality of food is really no better than a buffet. The carrots served are disgusting "baby" carrots that we all should know by now are actually pieces of carrots that cannot be bagged as whole and are mass marketed, often sitting in bins that are rampant with mold. They are washed and repackaged, but you cannot wash away the mold taste the sophisticated palette will always pick up on. Sad they don't purchase organic carrots and simply steam to al dente, which is quite pleasant and filled with flavor. The super sugary flavor is disgusting, maple or not, it cannot hide the mold flavor. If you are going to serve baby carrots, make them real baby carrots. At the prices charged, they should be. You cannot elevate subpar ingredients.
It is so sad that their deserts are now pre-packed, thawed confections.
The menu has only changed for the worse, getting pared down due to the loss of the chef. No chef works here now and the menu is old and tired. Considering they rarely have more than two tables in the restaurant at a time, the time it took to get our meal was ridiculous. Good thing we had nothing to do after dinner. It is so disappointing to see this once model of fine dining deteriorate and become another meh in this food desert we call Topeka. Watching the slow death of Chez Yasu is both painful and avoidable, but the owner is more concerned about his law career. I ask myself why he even keeps it open if he is going run it into the ground. He could hire another qualified chef, but cheap is cheap. Very sad.

My wife and I had dinner at Chez Yasu. I had been six years ago. This was her first visit. I could write on and on about the details. Our dinner was something I would expect to be served at Appleby's, poorly prepared and over cooked. We will not be returning. I suggest you look elsewhere.
Hidden Gem! Food was phenomenal! I highly recommend the duck!
