One of the best Mexican restaurants in Topeka by far! All of their food is very authentic and fresh. The pan fried chicken tacos are awesome and never disappoint. Customer service is on point, highly recommend this place

I've been hearing good things for awhile so thought we'd check it out. Let me start by saying the dining room was rather dirty. Considering there is no indoor dining I was surprised it wasn't cleaner. I won't talk about the service as he was busy with the phone and maybe it was an off night. We ordered chicken pan fried tacos with B/R and a side of guacamole. We got home and our tacos were beef. The chips were the crumbs from the bottom of the barrel and very stale. The beans were flavorless and while the rice was good it did not taste homemade. The tacos even if not chicken were very good. It was quite disappointing. We may try again in the future to hopefully get the chicken pan fried tacos we actually want to try.

My husband and I have always been fans of El Chilar’s because the food is delicious, but what really makes this place special is the customer service and how they go above and beyond to make your experience one to remember. For example, we ordered food to go last week on the steak night, my husband had requested mashed potatoes if they had them, but they were out. Instead of replacing it with a baked potato, they made him more with what they had, and they were so good!
